Mike Strange: five freshmen to watch

"Jones probably won't go with a two-quarterback system all year, but Guarantano and Dormady will both get extensive looks."
Does this mean that he thinks Butch will use a two QB system at least at the start of season? or was he referring to both QB's running the #1 offense in practice?

Many here believe that it is Dormady's job. I think the decision is still up for grabs and that is likely what Strange means.

I believe Dormady is slightly ahead even if he only showed us a glimpse in the spring. But he'll be on a thin leash. We'll probably see Dormady start and if we get a comfortable lead, have JG come in for his moment.

Another scenario is that they'll start Dormady and if he doesn't get anything going for 2-3 series, they'll put in JG to see if he gets things going. Leaving in whoever is hotter. Something similar to the Ainge/Schaeffer situation in the past.

The Ainge/Schaeffer situation lasted all of one game...UNLV. By the end of the Florida game, Ainge was the undisputed guy.

I'll be honest, I had never heard of Cheyenne Labruzza before this thread but I can't wait to hear Jeff Jarnigan say, "Interception by CHEY-enne la-BRUUUUZZ-a!"

It's been a while so I don't remember everything but if I'm not mistaken didn't Schaefer play quite a bit still? Or did he get hurt?

I just looked it up. I thought that was the year that Clausen came in late but wasn't positive if it was the following season. Ainge and Schaeffer got hurt and then 'ole Rick came in.

If Ignont can get the calls down, allowing him to react and not think, he's gonna kill it for us.

Both got hurt. Schaeffer against SC and Ainge the very next week against Notre Dame. His snaps were very limited after Florida and he wasn't happy. Played more against the Gamecocks with a huge lead and that's when his season ended.

A thin leash?? Is that like a short leash.

No thin...as in skinny and easily breakable. He means the leash is practically cosmetic and unnecessary because Dormady will be starting. Bold prediction imo. :)

I think if Dormady comes out against Ga Tech and looks comfortable, shows a firm grasp of the offense, and the offense itself looks good, there will be no rotation, and the only way we see JG is in mop up duty this year, or if Dormady were to be injured.

And if I remember correctly, 'Ole Rick put a thumping on A&M in the Cotton Bowl as well.

Until UGA discovered the following season that he couldn't throw over you. The book was written afterwards. Had a good QB mind with the instincts...very weak arm.

I would put Ignont on that list. Hope to see him doing big things for us as we move through the season.

I was at the game in Baton Rouge in 05 when he brought us back from 21 to 3 I believe to win it in overtime. The tiger faithful were losing their minds!

Lone highlight in that lost season...if you're gonna shine? Shine bright.

It was great too because they had just gotten past the big hurricane and we were the designated victim for their triumphant return. Afterwards their egos looked like Katrina II had hit them. I felt UT avenged the SECCG that day.

I think playing them both would be a smart move. Gives opponents an extra look to prepare for, develops the players, etc.
