Says Kellie would take a coaching job.
If right opportunity.
I think, freed from all that comes with seeking your goal and "writing a life narrative," Kellie will provide some program with her best coaching ever. Whether it shows up in the W/L column will depend on other factors. But hopefully she will be fulfilled and able to enjoy her growth as a coach and person.

She still gets paid.
No, she doesn’t. Her contract had an offset, so if she takes another job, Tennessee is only responsible for the difference between the annual average value of her contract at the new place and what is owed to her for the 2025–26 year. If she makes at least $1.1 million, in Tennessee will be off the hook completely. If she doesn’t, Tennessee will pay the difference.

If Kellie has a good job opportunity, I can't see her pulling a Butch Jones. That guy lacked character though he attempted to come off like he had an abundance of it.

Not sure what you mean by "pulling a Butch Jones?"

Jones refused to find adequate employment while he was getting a monthly buyout payment from UT.

I don't expect Harper to pull that trick if she has a good opportunity in front of her.

Still wondering how Joanie Mitchell is hanging on. I thought she would be one of the first ones to go only one I predicted would be fired that hasn't been fired.

Do you mean Joni Taylor at A&M? Her buyout is probably high given the fact she's just been on the job 3 years. I'd give her another 2 years, but seeing as how schools are letting coaches go after 4, it may be next year.

That’s not accurate. Butch was a finalist for several jobs after UT, but didn’t get them. The Title IX investigation at UT is the sole reason he didn’t get the Colorado job in 2018, the proposed contract was already agreed to before Colorado’s administration stepped in and they hired Mel Tucker. UT monitored his job searches closely to ensure he was following the terms of his buyout in seeking employment.

Joni Taylor signed a 5-year deal and got an extension after her first year, so o would say it’s cost-prohibitive to fire her at this point.

Right now, she has 5 players returning for next season, assuming none hit the portal (four left for the portal after last season). She doesn't have a single top 100 HS player coming in for the 25 class either. It looks like a complete collapse of a once very good program. aTm is paying her among the top 7 salaries in all of WBB ($1.5 mm). Her buyout is $4.6mm currently.

These numbers are a year old but are accurate for most.

Don’t be so demure.

I’m certainly not arguing that they should keep her, but at a time where athletic departments are about to have to spend $20 million a year on revenue sharing, it’s very difficult to find almost $5 million to buy out a coach in a sport that does not turn a profit.

Most schools don’t do contracts longer than three years for any sport other than football and men’s basketball, that’s one of the things that made her contract so surprising. She had been just OK at Georgia, and Texas A&M paid her like she had won championships.

I think she is improving in her new job as analyst. Pay is good and much less pressure. One never knows how any coaching gig is going to work out

I hope wherever she winds up, she makes sure that they will competive NIL funding, unlike her last job...
