Does anyone remember some of the posters here saying Leach was not SEC Head Coach material?

I personally don't remember that exact argument. I do remember people saying he wasn't a personality/cultural fit here at UT. Especially after today , Mstate is ok trying to be tolerant of diversity ;)

Does beating the NC count? That whole thing was complete horseshit.

I remember that argument too. The elitist attitude of some is mind boggling at time.

I thought one game doesn’t define a coach’s career? Lets see how a season goes. I remember people crowning Butch after a 5-0 start lmao

I like Leach and wasn’t one of those people but it’s still one game. And it’s one game in a really weird season against a team returning fewer starters than any team I’ve ever seen. I hope he does well but let’s see him do it over time. I believe he will have MSU winning 7-8 regular season games a year but we shall see.

I wanted Leach or Kiffin simply because they're good coaches and we needed a coach that understood Xs and Os and what it takes to win. They both have glaring personality faults and aren't Saban/Carroll/Osborne level HCs either. I think we lucked out and have one that will end up being a winner once he gets some experience under his belt. The fundamentals are there. He has his own style , he's innovative , and knows the game probably as well as anybody out there. We may not be where we want to be for a while , but he probably isn't going to go belly up and put is in a tailspin (again) . The future looks bright.

😆 even tho it wasn’t the LSU from last year , it’s still a pretty impressive win for a first year head coach.

He's coached one game. Just give him time and we'll critique his record 10 years from now. The good news is, Leach did exactly what he's supposed to do. We won't be debating 10 years from now "Well, if Leach had run the air raid blah blah blah...."

Congratulations to them on that passing record.

Leach will have a lid on his style in this conference, I don't think JP necessarily does, LSU lost practically a whole NFL roster, good for Leach though
Yeah, but it's Mississippi State. You gotta figure LSU has tons more talent. They go from no offense to amazing offense in the first year against a top team.
