Just said the door has closed on Butch Jones's chance to win the east, he then went on to say that next year Tennessee is 3rd in the east at best.

It hasn't. McIlwein is not exactly setting the world on fire in recruiting and UGA almost always out-recruits UT, and I see no evidence yet that Smart is any better of a HC than Richt was.

I disagree with his statement.

I think Georgia should be the clear number 1 pick, but after that it's a toss up.

Florida and the vols are in the same boat with QB issues.

I wouldn't sleep on Missouri. If there QB gets consistent he could be dangerous. He has all the tools. Also, if Missouri had left there D line alone last year and hadn't tried changing they could have been better.

South Carolina could be dangerous with good QB play. There defense will be serviceable.

I think Mark Stoops could really shine somewhere other than Kentucky. They may suprise some teams this year and win games they shouldn't.

Vandy shouldn't compete due to talent alone but Mason can flat out put a defense together. The Vols losing to them last year is still inexcusable, but there QB is gonna be one year older and more experienced. If they can figure things out on offense it would be a tough game.

If we get good QB play this year, then we could very well beat anyone in the East.

I think there are too many question marks in the East to make a declaration like the OP. I feel confident in Jones' lack of ability but there is some good talent on our roster.

UGA gets Miss State and Auburn from the west. Florida gets A&M and LSU.
We get Bama and LSU. F my life.

Yeah UGA is without a doubt the favorite.

Ya know ive never been the biggest butch fan but understand what he has done here. The issue that I have is his personality. I swear butch has a book of phrases that's only two pages long.. cliché quotes and his repetitive responses are what make me not like him.. 5* heart.. are you kidding me?

If we lose to UF, UGA, and another sec east school he will be gone.. lets mark bama as a L so that 4 losses again.. shoot if he losses against GT he'll start sweating.. I give butch MAX 2 years.. unless he wins the SEC then that could obviously change.

Criticizing CJM's recruiting when he's finished higher than Jones each of the last 2 seasons? Odd.

Well they weren't going to pick UT to win the East next year with a freshman QB. Lost some key pieces, so I can see where there isn't going to be much love for Tennessee going into the year. May be for the best. They didn't handle the expectations well anyway.

Cat's only have 9 lives....CJM has spent about all of them in his 3 seasons at Florida IMHO.

He hasn't built up a ton of confidence with anyone including some UF fans, but as long as the east sucks and he's able to be just good enough to win it he's hard to move. He slips below that and his seat will warm rather quickly.

Um, I said he is not setting the world on fire in recruiting. Do you disagree?

And, fwiw, if you are just basing their rankings off recruiting points, the differences between the 2 programs' classes the last 2 years is negligible.

Only been there two seasons and will be bringing in his best recruiting class to date. I'm not so sure he's run out of lives. And unlike Jones, when the opportunity to win the East was there, he went out and took it with a win at LSU.
