1) Reduce ticket prices by at least 33%.....possibly 50% for some games.
2) Fire the band director and pay whatever it takes to get the best in the nation..........Last year's Pride of the Southland was an embarrassment.
3) For the games that the visiting teams will not bring a band, spend a hundred grand or so and have a decent halftime show......a Kenny Chesney or whoever instead of introducing a group of 4-H club goobers.
4) Billboards; Not the Lane Kiffin type, but the ones UT used in the early '90's that blanked the State of Tennessee showing a Orange clad Vol diving over the goal-line with the caption "It's football time in Tennessee"!
5) Recruit ex-UT stars ( A Manning, Wilson, Kelsy Finch, Jason Allen etc) to go on State media blitz. Taped of course for the current NFL players.

Unfortunately the program will likely bottom out this season or next. Anyone can be a fan during the glory years but not in the mediocre years. Hamilton and Dooley must keep the flame going until UT starts winning again......as they surely will. Living outside the state and listening to satellite talk sports programs, it is my opinion that UT is still considered one of the elite football schools but now is just in a down cycle.

Agree with all except #2, I thought the Pride was fine.

"kids, you weren't around in 2010 when things were really bad" -my response to future kids after Vols lose 4 games in a season

1. 50%?! This is UT, not Hall's Salvage.
2. They did seem a bit off last year.
3. The word decent and the name Kenny Chesney don't belong in the same sentence.
4. Billboards are a waste of money.
5. Cause those guys don't have schedules of their own or anything.

Then be prepared to go to games at Neyland 60% capacity after we start the season 2-6.

they just need to do 2 things....

lower the ticket prices and get rid of the 2000 dollar donation charge per seat for the right to buy season tickets

and the other is start winning..

I'm not debating the lack of attendance that will carry over from last year, and continue as long as the team is mediocre at best.

I just question your ways of fixing this. Though, I admit, other than improving the product on the field or giving tickets away, I don't have an answer. But, giving tickets away at 50% off, is probably not financially worth it for the AD.

It's worked for Pat Head Summitt's team for years. Beside with the $$ they are getting from the $EC TV deal plus the two million they save by hiring a less-than-bigname coach, they should be able to make tickets affordable again for the working class fans, at least for the kids.

Much cheaper to run a 15 player basketball squad than a 100 player football team. Renovations to both Neyland and TBA, also the upgrades to the training facilities. I'd say they're a bit strapped at the moment.

I agree but how else is Hammy gonna fit the bill on his goal to make the entire stadium one big luxury box? Ive had season tickets for 32 years and I live for football season and attending the games. I can honestly say this might be my last year to renew my tickets. Prices have jacked up, product on the field sucks and HDTV is starting to look like a better option. It will be easy to scalp tickets below face value the next few years anyway. The only thing that has kept me hanging in there is my good parking pass, which was moved to BFE this year because I wouldnt donate more...

You can buy season tickets for $125.00 donation per ticket non-priority. Your not gurranted the same tickets next year but I've had the same seat for 3 years lower level!

They had their moments. I specifically remember the Georgia band being a lot louder than ours, but the "thriller" performance for the S.Carolina game was pretty entertaining.

Make your ole buddy, Fulmer, earn some of that 6 million buyout by mowing the grass and picking up cigarette butts.:banghead2:

He might actually enjoy mowing the grass, but I think Hammy could pick up the cigarette butts, in the interest of facilities maintenance.

Not sure how you figure that, since the tickets are already printed... and attendees are likely to spend a little on a hot dog and a coke.

And while billboards may not be great for selling a heavily advertised product, they are great for relaying information and increasing awareness.

Heck, getting away from strictly immediate income... a full stadium versus a 1/4 empty one could influence the outcome of future games via better impressions on recruits attending. Better advertising could also give the impression of a program on the rebound rather than a stagnating one. Can't always think in the short run.
