Committee for playoffs is one thing and even for season but a commissioner seems like a bad idea. People are more passionate about college than the NFL. Any former coach will be naturally biased to what would be advantageous to schools he would be linked to or perhaps if ever fired from a school could let a grudge hinder judgement.
