... Yet says wins over Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M and Alabama are expected next year.

3) Tennessee: $121 million - SICK The Vols are 8-4, but the biggest win is over a Georgia team that had a down year and lost its star on the first play. This is where I would rather have a neutral category, but what fun would that be? Next year will be a huge season for Butch Jones and company as wins over Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M and Alabama will be expected.

We were 1-3 in big games this year. It's hard to disagree with him.

He's exactly right about next year, though. We now expect to beat those teams, compared to 3-4 years ago where we hoped we stayed competitive in the big games.

in fairness, he did qualify this by adding he might have needed a "neutral" category here for TN.

i think what he's basically said here...."let's wait and see".

as we should be.....

Sick but with a pulse. Three years ago the program was starting to assume room temperature.

He's right about only one big win (and with Chubb getting hurt, it may not have been that big) but we played nip and tuck with the big boys, 2 of whom are in the playoffs. Before you haters start claiming I'm happy with moral victories, let me say that those games prove we are much better than sick. Sick is the last few years when we were toast by halftime--we have greatly improved and we expect great things over the next few years. By no means are we sick..we are healthy, and getting healthier

pretty stupid reasoning on whether the coach going to get or did get fired.....LSU, Georgia or the Big Orange, might not have won all the games they played, but financially they are not sick and the coaching staffs are solid....so I am not sure what the point of the article is? coaching situation or financial stability?

He says Georgia had a 'down year' but 10-2 or 9-3 is what they usually are. Georgia didn't have a down year. They had a typical year. His bringing up the Chubb injury is just another way to disparage our victory.

OK look at it this way. If Georgia had not cheap shot on Shy Tuttle and Curt hadn't got hurt alone with two or three other players we probably would of been in the final 4 this year. I know id Kirkland had been at LB in the Oklahoma game we probably would of won that one also.

Those games proved that we had the talent to play with those teams, but not the coaching leadership to seal the wins.....hopefully our coaching staff grows up more than the players in the off-season....

this bowl game will really educate us about their progress or lack thereof as the season progressed....as we play a quality opponent in Northwestern.

GO VOLS...:salute:

I agree. It's hard to argue the fact that Butch needs to win some of the big ones next season. Getting a W over NW in the bowl game, could be a good start to the 16 season.

Farrell dissed our game with Georgia citing the Chubb injury. If you look at the stats, Marshal and Michel still got almost 200 yds in the game. We seized momentum just before the half and took the game. It wasn't given to us on a platter. They were in the game until the last play. That's the way the series has gone the last three years. I call BS if he says it wasn't a quality win. I screamed at the TV more in that game than all year combined...

The writing doesn't match the chosen analogy.

"Sick" vs "healthy" should've been about diagnosis and prescription. Other than saying a coach doesn't fit (Texas) or hasn't yet proven himself (Georgia), there's no diagnosis of any illness for any of the "sick" teams, much less any prescription for cure.

Way to take a pretty good idea and totally botch it, dude. Shoulda stayed with M*A*S*H*.

How can we possibly be expected to beat Florida, at Georgia, at Texas A&M, and Alabama all in row next year? We would have to be the best team in the country. We might be, but I don't know how that could be the expectation. The best bet is we go 2 and 2 in those games, win the rest and go to the Sugar bowl. Our program is in good shape. 9-4 and a top 25 finish met expectations.

There is a good percentage of fans on this site who really-really hope that Butch fails.

Close loses to teams in the playoffs means nothing to them.
If the teams best players were seniors, I would agree, moral-victories mean nothing. But when your best recruiting class is the Sophomore class, these close calls could be interrupted as a good sign for the future.

They don't want to look for hopeful signs for the future.
They look for any news to kindle the flame of hope they have that Butch will fail.

Can someone explain why? Are these the same fools posting ridiculous scenarios about how Jon Gruden was coming with Cowher as his DC????

1. Trolls. Bama/Gator/Dawg/Vandy fans disguised as supposed Vols fans.
2. Eeyores. Live to be sad.
3. Curse-bitten. Have PTSD over the Bama / Florida streaks.
4. Clinically insane.

loss of Chubb wasn't really a factor. They moved the ball decent when they had it but the turnover before the half was the big difference. Michel wouldn't have been in the game if Chubb had played some his yds simply go to Chubb. No difference in outcome.

I don't recall anyone making excuses for Tennessee when Jamal Lewis went out for the season.....oh, that's cause they won them all anyway!!!!!

Who in the F is Mike Farrell anyway?
