Microsoft Is Looking To Acquire Nintendo

Lol I just want to play Mario on Xbox
Here's the conundrum though. A Microsoft acquired Nintendo is no longer "Nintendo". Part of the beauty of Nintendo and what makes their games great is absolutely the business culture in which those games are conceived and cultivated. The minute they are acquired by a conglomerate like MS, all that stops. So no. If you care at ALL about Nintendo and their games, you want them to stay independent!

Also, it ain't a sin to own more than one console! :)

Absolutely no way they’d let this happen. Right? Right?
Highly doubtful. Microsoft has been rumored to buy almost every Japanese gaming company over the past 20 years. I don't think any Japanese company would allow an American company to be its majority owner. It would be shameful in their culture.

Seven eleven is kind of jointly owned by japan and the US

Nintendo makes underpowered hardware that you are forced to buy because they do not allow their IP on other platforms. They are also quite aggressive in their copyright defense, to the point of attacking people just making videos of playing games, or making fan content.
A partnership to bring Nintendo games to other platforms would be good for the consumer, but it would mean far fewer would actually buy Nintendo hardware. Especially when the games would run much better on that other hardware. I may or may not be able to confirm that TOTK runs much better on a Steam Deck than the Switch.

I have literally never seen or heard of an issue with any Nintendo hardware running a Nintendo game. even if it was the case, I wouldn't want Microsoft to get their hands on it.

diversity is key in the gaming community. I would rather them continue to make unique good/great games, that are far different from what Microsoft churns out, rather than having a new release of Mario every year on the Xbox or computer with life like graphics. Nintendo has always had their own art style, and I appreciate it. and I say this as someone who doesn't currently own any newish Nintendo games/equipment.

I mean this is kind of the point I was making when I said I like them how they are. If I want my socks blown off by graphics I grab the ps5 or pc. If I want crazy mod support, again pc. But those times I just want a nice cozy game to de-stress from a long day, or I want family fun, or I want an adventure game that feels like it relies more on the whimsical aspect than it does showering your senses with clutter.. I grab the switch. Nintendo does what it does well. I never think man I am not pushing this hardware. That’s not why I play the Nintendo. I already know there are certain games I would never purchase for Nintendo.

All of this!!

And again, I must reiterate, a MS acquired Nintendo would destroy what makes Nintendo so great to begin with! Their entire DNA is rooted in their own unique business culture. If you think Nintendo would continue as before, just on more capable hardware, well then you're not very informed on MS' history of M&A. Remember when they bought Rare from Nintendo? You remember them, right? The studio that made Donkey Kong Country, Killer Instinct, Goldeneye 007, Banjo Kazooie, Conquer's Bad Fur Day, etc? Well since being bought by MS over 20 years ago they have made Kameo, Sea of Thieves, and a bunch of crappy Kinect games. I'm telling you, if you are a fan of Nintendo at all, you don't want this!

I don’t know my Rare history, but the reason for the sucky games since MS acquisition is probably due to all of the good designers leaving the company to go work for other designers who weren’t under the MS thumb at the time. You saw this with Bungie and 343 and others. The golden age of gaming is past, imo.

It’s bloated. It will crash and then we will see a big fall off.. but then they will be making good games again. It’s basically the 80’s all over again with better hardware right now
