Doc has been fired from his position as program director and morning show host by Cumulus Broadcasting. Cumulus Broadcasting cites "cost-cutting" as the reason for dismissal. He worked for the company for 36 years.

He will still be the voice of the Lady Vols basketball games.

I never like the seeing anyone lose their job, but I can imagine that Ole Mickey could be an egotistical jerk towards his superiors.

Now if they'd just get rid of "Nasal" Heather I may listen to the morning show again.

I hate anyone losing their job....But this was overdue. Worst show on Knoxville radio.

Best of luck to him and his team though.

Hate hearing about someone losing their gig, hope he lands on his feet. That said, I really hope they do something better with the morning show. Since Jeff's health decline kept him from being a regular part of the show, it went from tolerable to completely unlistenable.

He ruined the show because if anyone disagreed with him slightly it was a 20 minute diatribe until they gave up.

No worse than the rest of them.

Put her in a bikini and stream the show live. :)

Dearstone thought he was big league. Not a chance he could've ever made it in another market this long. His condescending, know it all attitude was a big reason I quit listening. Question is, does anyone know what the plan is for the morning show now. Ainge for 4 hours??

I know it served Jeff well (waste of time wise) to let Doc override him and over talk him, but I hated it. Jeff had so much more wisdom and knowledge of what was going on.

Yes,,,Jeff was the "glue" that held it together in my opinion. Hated what happened to him.

He was the program director. Cumulus owns the station and has a market VP and the Operations Manager over the PD. So he was in charge of the station, but had bosses.

Seems weird to fire the guy over the station to save money right? I mean wouldnt they have to replace him.

I agree...there absolutely has to be more to the story. There's no way they fire a guy who worked for the company 36 years after he finished the show on a Monday morning. Did he even get to give his FINAL "So Long Everybody"?

After 36 years, I can imagine the final blowout being overdue. A large reason why he lasted so long was his mutual respect he shared with Bobby Denton. And now with Jeff gone, it seemed gears were starting to grind.

Mickey will be OK. And though I might be in the minority here, I respect him.

I agree; the show had gotten even stranger since the passing of Jeff.
