Michigan giving South Carolina our signs

A to Z sports has an article about Michigan giving the game chickens our signs. Yes, the defense was on Quaaludes, but man, S.C. was strangely perfect that night. Just a thought. God knows Beamer was open to such shenanigans.

Let’s not forget they scored a whopping 6 points against a ****** Florida team the week before

I did think it was kinda weird seeing a Welcome to Tennessee sign on I26 just outside of Columbia. So, Michiganders did that? I didn’t think they had the sense of humor or commitment to prank like that.

Do I understand and the situation correctly...a person from the Michigan staff bought a ticket and observed from a non restricted area and took notes? Is that accurate to say? If so, I honestly don't see why every team doesn't do that

Taking notes is different from recording the other teams sideline with a camera all game.

I view it like baseball. If a runner on 2nd/ or a coach can figure out the other teams signs during a game on their own, then good for them. Other teams should do a better job of mixing up or hiding their signs.

If someone sets up a camera or uses a recording device so that they can easily play back, decipher, and compare against other games to figure out signs and watch the formations and plays they run based off those signs, that's unethical and should be against the rules.

I think they get a slap on the wrist at best. The main thing they did wrong was advance scouting. And many of the games were done by associates of Stallions that had no ties to Michigan. So they'll need to specifically amend the rules that you can't accept video, scouting notes done by way of advanced scouting even if the source of the video/notes is unaffiliated with the university.

I remember when they tried to bust Urban Meyer for improperly contacting Tebow. He was contacting him pretty much daily. The NCAA said you're only allowed X number of calls or visits to a player during the season. Urban said he had violated neither, his daily contact with Tebow was via text message and he asked them to show him their guidelines for texting. Of course being the dinosaur that they are, the NCAA had not updated it's contact rules to include texting.

We still lost to an inferior team.
I think their secondary play was sharp. I believe they had our signs and so knew our routes and the safeties did a great job of jumping routes. Our guys did not play up to the challenge that night. They still should have won more of the mano a mano battles. Our D played like they were about to crap their pants. and they did.

I don't think their secondary did anything special, Hooker had 3 TDs and no picks. Now the 6 TDs and 0 picks on their side was a killer

Been almost 3yrs...just saying

Did it ruin our shot at an SEC and NC, yes that is without question.
To me that is part of the conversation...not as.much as how bad we played on D, but how they were more prepared for No 1 in their house.

We had already lost to UGA, so we had no shot at the SEC.

Do you really believe SC had our signals and that’s why we lost?
Somewhere a SC player made a comment like "we knew what they were going to run" They eluded to figuring it out themselves. The reality? It was Michigan doing what they could to get to the CFP (and it worked).

I believe Netflix has a documentary about Michigan stealing signals..

Look at these game by game stats. There is zero chance we just played worse than every other opponent Rattler played against for 4 years.

Guys don't have career nights? He certainly had the raw talent. We had a guy on our basketball team in high school that scored 24 one night and I don't think he scored more than 12 in any other game in 2 years starting. He was just "on" that night. It's not like 3 or 4 favorites don't lose road night games to underdogs every single year in the SEC. There was a weekend last year where there were 2 in the same night. It's always been perilous as hell in our conference. How did we beat UGA in 2004? They beat a Top 5 LSU team by like 30 points the week before. We played our azzes off is how. South Carolina got better that year, as they proved by beating Clemson @Clemson the next week and also took ND to the wire in the Gator Bowl. We had the whole mysterious Banks suspension too, it was a classic ambush that was no fun to be on the receiving end of, but it was also a performance which Heupel’s teams have been prone too away from the friendly confines of Neyland.

Michigan also had UGA's signs but that didn't help their opponents any, and it didn't help them against UGA directly the year before either. Our defense didn't get off the bus that night and Rattler was dropping dimes and it shook them up then that crowd got going. Rattler could have known the defensive calls all day long and still not beat us if he wasn't making 10/10 throws all night.

Funny how the ones who think we’re crazy for believing there was malfeasance going on during that game are generally known as the Negas!

Makes sense they would just believe we just sucked that night! Just coincidence SC wore wrist bands that night and guessed correctly on virtually every play!

We scored 38 points despite Hooker getting injured, I don't think their defense's wristbands hurt us. Their offense didn't wear any but scored 63, that was the problem.

SC scored 9 straight TDs vs Tennessee. I’ve watched football for 60 years and have never seen that before.
This right here. I've been watching football since the 80s and I've never witnessed it especially by a team that were 3 score underdogs. They had our signs and you'll never convince me otherwise

Correct, Clemson, after watching our game, might have figured it out and changed their signals.

Sonny Dikes admitted that he knew Michigan had TCU’s signs, and used it against them in the playoffs.
Yup and after watching the way UGA curb stomped them in the NC it makes a ton of sense. Michigan was cheating and TCU made them look like fools.
