review on the third down pass! Are you kidding me? These yahoo SEC officials, who miss the most obvious calls all the time, suddenly decide that some microscopic tip of a florida receivers elbow hit inbounds 1/50th of a second before his arm and body landed well out of bounds--and they give the gators a crucial first down at the miami 5--leading to a huge TD, also aided by a florida hold that wasn't called??

Miami deserves better than the score--they've played extremely well on defense. Their OL and LBs have bothered florida all night.

Who do you think has a tougher job--Chavis, trying to prepare for florida, or the florida DC preparing for UT?It's a rhetorical question, of course! I don't think there's a football play that's been invented that florida doesn't try at least once in every game. They throw everything at you but the kitchen sink. You have to get pressure on tebow with your front seven, and quick reactions by your LBs when tebow runs, which miami has done. Miami will be good again soon--but their offense and their qb play is still iffy. But they've got some athletes on defense--and their DL has played well.

I personally don't think he maintained possession. Oh, well...

It was the right call. He was clearly knocked out of bounds and would have landed in and his elbow hit.

I don't think there is a force out rule in college.

Hmmm... all I hear people say at times like this was "was there substantial evidence to overturn the call on the field"?

I could see how that could have been called either way. In that case, if it is that close, you don't overturn the call on the field.

He didn't have control of the ball.

It was worse than that. He didn't catch it at all. Check out the end of the play; the ball is half-way up a cheerleader's skirt.

It doesn't really matter where your elbow is if you don't catch the ball.

Tough for me to say, I kind of thought he never possesed the ball, but then again, I'm kind of biased against Florida. If it had been a UT player in that same situation, I'd probably be saying what a great call the officials had made.

Just a tad off topic, did Rogers make the catch on the long pass vs UCLA that was ruled incomplete.

In other words, if the catch is made the ground can't cause a fumble, did he have it or was he juggling?

That was a obvious trapped ball. It wasn't even close.

I did notice that the gator DBs seemed to have an inner ear problem and needed to grab Miami receivers to maintain their balance.

Goodness. I guess folks really want UF to take a hit from an OOC foe? Maybe the UT-UF game would be downgraded to Raycom, or PPV. FWIW, I watched the game and was not under the influence so I feel fairly confident saying that the receiver had the ball tucked under his arm before he hit the ground and his elbow touched down in bounds before any other part of his body hit the ground.

fumble implies previous possession, but thre was none in this case.

It would have been fairly impossible for me to care less about who won that game, I just hate to see a hose job worthy of a Pac-10 crew by officials we are going to see 8 times this year. If that receiver goes up in the middle of the field by himself, puts both hands on the ball at the top of his leap, juggles and brings it down to waist high for a split second, then has it squirt out as he hits the ground, that play is called incomplete 100 times out of 100. For some reason, because Musburger can't tell where the guy's elbow is, everyone, including the replay official, seems to have forgotten that you really need to end the play with the football to consider the pass complete.

Exactly cotton. I think they just focused on the elbow touching in, and casually ignored the fact that the ball was being juggled on the way down and ended up out of the guys hands.
