So refresh my memory but when Dooley came in was he facing potentially massive NCAA sanctions? A complete overhaul of the AD, football staff and recruiting department? Did he follow a 3-7 season?

The point is you cannot compare what JH and his staff walked into to anything any previous UT HC has had. It’s not even compareable.

I don't think comparing Dooley's recruiting situation to Heupel's recruiting situation is fair. Dooley's was much easier. At that time, the recruits had seen us be good. In 2007, we had been to the SEC championship and for much of the decade, we had been good. It is 2021. The last time we were relevant was in 2015 and 2016 and those were just two 9-win seasons in a stretch from 2010 to 2020 in which we went 66-69. The perception of TN football is much worse now than it was then.
