Meyer says Gator D sluggish

Ding ding ding. Stopping Spurrier's offense at FL was something we simply could not do. Our best game against them ('98) we held them to under 20 because of 5 turnovers. I think Meyer has benefited from some big time Zook recruiting and all the luck/pieces sort of fell his way last year. His success will continue both in the win column and in recruiting, but I'm afraid Spurrier would have hung at least 38-41 on us last year.

He is a good coach. I base some of my opinion on the fact that he has never really outcoached CPF yet. Can you imagine what Spurrier would have done to UT's d last year with Florida's talent and a senior QB?

I wouldn't listen to what Meyers says. He always looked a little shifty to me.

SEPERATED AT BIRTH

Now for this whole Urban Meyer/SOS thing...SOS was better because he got in to opponents heads. was he necessarily a better x's and o's guy? eh, debatable. what was superior at was evaluating talent, and putting it in the best possible postion to be successful. and from that, he gameplanned accordingly. as we found out with his stint in the NFL, the bravado that accompanies SOS doesn't mean squat when the playing feild is level, talent wise, and no one is intimidated by the mystique of the "ol ball coach". but his run thru the sec in the 90's is one to take note of, cause i don't know if anyone will have a similar run ever again, or for at least a long time.

and it has TN, GA, SC, Bama, and Aub fans everywhere going WTF? this guy, in year 2...YEAR 2...rolls thru the SEC where all the stalwarts of SEC football have been touting this league as the best, ahd he figured it out in year 2.

Spurrier's run will never be matched

I wouldn't call what Urban did last year "rolling through" the SEC. 1 point win against the Outback bowl losers, beating a Les Miles coached football team, relying on 3 blocked FGs against SCe and losing to Auburn while Auburn did not score an offensive touchdown.

That's not exactly "rolling through" IMO

But you give credit where credit is due. Urby is the coach of the defending National Champions.
