any other wrinkles besides a silent count?

That plus the holding hands thing. Kind of gay (a la Seinfeld, "not that there's anything wrong with that"), but if it works, do it. Makes sense that it would work, though every split second we can't get off the ball that much quicker hurts. Still, probably better than giving up 25 yards in false start penalties.

Give the guy credit for looking to what others are doing and trying to be somewhat creative in his approach to things. Pretty cool -- Leak didn't call out a signal the whole game.

that's all fine well and good....but silent counts and trips to NFL teams over the summer doesn't put points on the board, or keep them off the board....at the end of the day each team has to go play.

Agreed, but when is the last time Fulmer made that kind of effort months and months ahead of a game (or series of games) to come up with best and most creative way to overcome other team's advantage? This may or may not work this time, Florida may or may not win, I'm just saying that for big picture purposes it sure is nice to have a coach that takes the initiative like this to get his team as ready as can be.

Fulmer and Co. have regularly made trips West to Nashville to review several things with Jeff Fisher and co...most notably, i believe, could be wrong here, but i seem to remember them going over to Nashville to come up with better ways to involve the TE in the offense, when we had Witten....

Leak will be used to the noise. He heard it before. The other new guys have a new experience coming. Think you are ready for it until you have to live it.

UF is loudest stadium I have been in but these guys are used to the noise will on the side line watching the D play. They will now have to deal with and make their blocking assignments. As CAL found out everything is a little different when you are there and noise is blasting and you have the D doing things to confuse you.

The holding the hands thing would probably work if they didn't do it on campus on a daily basis walking to class.

On another note, I agree with hohenfelsvol in that it is a different story from practice to the real thing with your ears ringing out of your helmet. Many teams have tried to replicate it but it rarely works out the same.

GO VOLS! BEAT FLORIDA!

Is there time for a group hug in the huddle before they break?

They used these techniques on every single snap of the game this past Saturday.

All this is good for running set plays. Changing plays at the line will be very difficult and this will be the difference.

Gators won't need to check off much at the line. Plays as called should be more than sufficient.

...or even at halftime for that matter.

I'm trying to get a little excitement out of lawgator. Some sassy remark or something. He is usually so to the point and polite. Nothing wrong with that; just that it is Florida week. A little crack here or there would be in order. Good to have you on the site though. I have enjoyed your comments. ( I'm starting to sound mushy. Next thing you know I'll be holding hands with the O line.):salute:

Silent count or no, the offense loses an advantage. Normally, they know when to go, now they have to watch the ball just like the defense. Might keep from getting penalty, but the offense is still losing an advantage. I've seen linemen do this for years, don't know why he had to visit NFL teams to come up with this solution. Fulmer did go to a couple of teams one offseason to get some ideas on how to better utilize tight end (Jason Whitten).
