Mods, please forgive me...

I wanted to wish a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year, to all of the VolNation. 2008 has been a trying year for UT football, and many of us here. Times are tough, not just in Neyland, but in many of our homes. Unpleasant, but necessary changes have been made in the football program, and there is reason to look towards the 2009 season, and beyond, with high hopes and great expectations. Time will tell.

To any and all that I may have offended with sharp words, I apologize, and ask your forgiveness. I will make a concerted effort to not do so next year, no matter how strongly we disagree. Your opinions are just as important as mine.

I do ask that you take a few moments over the next few days to pause and reflect on the blessings in your life (yes, they're there), and to say a special prayer for all those patriots who will spend the holidays in a hostile foreign land, miles away from their loved ones. Give them one minute out of your day to ask that they return home safe, and soon.

So, Happy Holidays, and

GO VOLS!

Ha ha ha....nope. New leaf. Cleared my Ignore List, and start the New Year with an open, honest heart. If you get on my nerves, I just let it go.

Should last until at least mid-April.

Go Vols.

And lo an emissary from the Athletic Department appeared before Vol Nation and said: 'Fear not for I bring you good tidings of great joy, for unto you a Coach has been hired, and his Father as well'. You will find him in an office or on a plane wrapped up in recruiting and hiring. He shall not be all things to all the people, and he will not care. His name is Lane, which means "the savior of UT football is with us".

Merry Christmas Vol Nation, the upcoming ride will not be a boring one.

This post is practically begging for a VolNation version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas".

I don't have the skill to do it justice, so I'll just toss it out there for those of you that do.

Go Vols.

Better!!!My random act of kindness!!

Nicely done.

And here's the kicker: If all of us, all of VN, can "pay it forward" just once a week.....one time in a whole week...one minute out of 168 hours...one small, spontaneous, seemingly insignificant random act of kindness....just think.

Much easier to sleep at night, huh?

Go Vols.

Merry Christmas VolNation!!!!

Here's my version:

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the stands,

Not a single fan cheered, not even the band;

The players were huddled on the sidelines or near,

In hopes that a new coach soon would appear;

The cheerleaders were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of pom poms danced in their heads;

And momma in her visor, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the field there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter.

The moon on the orange and white checkerboard zone,

Gave us the feeling - we were not alone.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a man named Coach Kiffin, with his family near.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Green! now, Jeffrey! now, Monte and 'O!

On, Coleman! on Berry! on, Rogan and Jones!

To the top of the goal post! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

So up to the locker room, the coursers they flew,

With the book full of plays, and a drive to win too.

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And to spurrier he only gave merely a smirk.

And waving his visor to the screaming of fans,

And giving a nod, through the tunnel he ran;

He sprang to stop, to his team gave a hollar,

And away they ran like Eric Berry was runnin' after 'em. :)

But I heard him exclaim, ere he ran out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."
