I hate to beat an opponent that is not at full strength; but at this point I will take any kind of win. The last few years have been tough on us. Feed the post. Give it to Stokes and Maymon all night long!

I'm hoping that was our plan anyways.,

what if it were one of ours. Cuonzo would want our fans to be considerate. Bad break for Mercer. Iowa State lost one of their best players to a foot fracture. We have been fortunate with our starters. Let's hope our luck lasts. I cringe every time Maymon hits the deck!

Hubbs might have been a major contributor by now if he hadn't gotten injured.
You're right; we've been fortunate with our starters.
But, we haven't been injury free. We lost a 5*.

This gets lost when discussing our season.

I understand he wasn't starting, but he was the 6th man, and has oodles of potential. How much worse are many teams in America if you remove a 5* from their roster?

This Mercer team may be more dangerous with this guys injury. This is different from the Iowa. This is your own teammate in a serious condition.
You can say "he might not remember us beating duke, but let us help him remember him being part of a team that goes to a sweet 16!"
When Chris Ware broke his leg, Louisville rallied for him to get to the finals.

Knock on wood, but when's the last time either of our bigs got in foul trouble? That's a part of Stokes game that has gone unnoticed, he was in foul trouble a lot last year.

Agreed!

Another skill of his that does not get a lot of notice is how rarely anyone is able to poke the ball away from him when he gets in traffic. His hands must match those size 20 feet!

I don't know redshirting rules for Bball, but did we give him a medical redshirt or any at all?

This could be big. Mercer does not have a lot of bodies and fouls to give to stop Stokes.
If the refs call it like they did the UMass game, they will have plenty of fouls to give that don't get called!

He got injured early in the game. Would've played more.

And Mercer proceeded to beat Duke without him. We will get another test today.

No way were overlooking this team. They've had to hear that name for an entire year after laying that egg in TBA.

Just because you get a concussion doesn't mean you can't remember

Him not being able to remember the game was a detail reported in addition to the concussion. It sounds like he got a pretty bad one. Really unfortunate for the kid and for Mercer as a team.

they have nobody over 220 to bang with stokes and maymon. they have some tall guys but their really skinny 195-200lbs guys at 6'9, 6'10, and 6'6. we should absolutely hammer them in the paint. duke plays the type of style they like to play....we dont.

great point, hope you are right. If we attack them in the paint and then hit those jump shots like we did in the first two games, we win, if not, then it is going to be a long day!

According to Captain Obvious, today's game is all about the Defense. It is also what killed Duke.

not playing their tempo, hitting the glass, defending the 3 ball, and getting their bigs in some foul trouble bc they have no depth there. those are the 4 big ones.

ESPN's Rachel Nichols tweeted that Mercer center Monty Brown will miss tomorrow's game with a concussion suffered in the Duke game. He is staying in a dark room and does not remember the Duke game.

Sounds almost convict'ish. Is he informed of his rights? Jk

If the refs let them play like they have been we should be ok. If the whistles start early and often we might have to be careful
