Mercedes-Benz Stadium issues - UPDATE

The scheduled opening date of Mercedes Benz Stadium (a.k.a. Megatron's Butthole) has been pushed back again to late August. The Vols play GA Tech the first week of September at MB Stadium so there is no more wiggle room.

I'm assuming that the GA Dome would be the contingency plan if they can't shut Megatron's Butthole before September. Does anyone know if that's the case or is it Bobby Dodd?

Construction issues have delayed the opening of Mercedes-Benz Stadium for a third time.

Steve Cannon, CEO of Atlanta Falcons parent company AMB Group, said Tuesday that the opening will be pushed back from July 30, when an Atlanta United soccer match was to have been played in the new stadium, to Aug. 26, when a Falcons pre-season game is scheduled to be played there.

Cannon also confirmed that “decommissioning” and demolition of the Georgia Dome have been put on hold “until we are 100 percent certain of achieving our certificate of occupancy.”

They can call it whatever...but that thing is cool.

Lol at the thread title change. Surprised it lasted this long.

Yeah, I probably should be more mature.

For a serious question, I would assume that if the game is played at Bobby Dodd or GA Dome that the ticket distribution %s between the teams would remain the same.

Bobby Dodd is puny. Vol fans could fill it up. Only slightly bigger than peabody
The GA Dome will host it if MB isn't available

So where would the Alabama FSU game be played on Sat ? They almost have to use the GA Dome for both games, if the idiots dont have the new one ready

The CEO of Peach Bowl Inc, who does the Chick Fil A kickoff, said that if the games are played in the Mercedes-Benz stadium that the retractable roof will be closed. He wants to take weather out of the equation. But is that not the entire purpose of a retractable roof. If bad weather was in the area you can close the roof, if it's nice and sunny open it.

I think the implication is that the roof isn't likely to be working properly, so it's best to go ahead and close it.

Trust me... On September 4th in Atlanta, there's no such thing as a nice day to sit outside. Close the lid and crank up the AC.

I've never understood why the Braves didn't go with a retractable roof stadium for exactly that reason.

Don't be a snowflake! The Braves have been playing outdoors in Atlanta since 1966. They've managed to be just fine for 51 years in these conditions. I don't see why it needs to change now.
