Kelly on Monday tweeted the acronym“T.E.A.M.” — together everyone achieves more.

“That’s what I believe,” Kelly said on Tuesday. “That’s why I tweeted it.”

“When you stick together as a team,” he added later, “you can fight through anything.”

I don't know, reading some of the quotes it does sound like the team ripped into him about some stuff and he made the choice to leave.

I think it sounds like it's been an ongoing issue for too long now and they're all happy and relieved that it's over.

I get the impression that the entire meeting wasn't about Hurd, but about the team owning up to expectations and playing with pride again.

That may be true, but they seem to think of him as a friend, regardless of how things transpired.

Agree. They make a point of being accountable to each other. To me, therein lies the crux of the matter. Jalen thought it was all about him, and the rest of the team felt it was about the greater good, the team. And they are moving on. Knowing that's how it went down, I gotta believe these guys are all in for Butch, and that Butch handled it as well as he could.

Notice please TKjr did not need mom, dad, step dada, uncle, or Vol74 speak for him.

I think Hurd was somewhat self-absorbed & when things didn't go his way he pouted. The others got fed up with him, addressed it & he took his toys & went home.

Whew! Good thing Nikki Anoseki wasn't around. Any fragile egos would have been crushed long ago. Hope the ones still with us put all this behind them and move forward to a successful remainder of the season at 5-0.

Hope for the best for Jalen. If what said about him is true (and it may not be), it proves something I have told players for years. "There may be no 'I' in team, but there sure is a 'me'. Get it out."

There really is something to be said for this. I can't remember any player who constantly had family members "speaking" for them that didn't turn out to have major issues in some department.

Wanting to give a little grace to Hurd. We have no idea what other stuff might be going on in his life right now. It almost seems like maybe things went bad fairly rapidly since the Georgia game. He may have some distractions with family or friends or school or who knows what that we are not privy to.

But like several wise posters have said, for good or ill, this chapter of UT football is closed. Pulling for Team 120 to bounce back stronger.

Wow! I think we now have a good chance of beating Tennessee Tech.

Hold on... We don't need to be over confident. Nobody on this team has played Tennessee Tech in Butch's 4th year, game 9 on the schedule, and a 4pm start. Not to mention it is on the SEC network.
