I know some folks on this board get to go to the games every week, but this is my first one this year, and, well the first one in the Last 3....(BMT and TDY)....

So it's been a few since i have made it to a game. But i scraped some plane tickets up and i am headed up there for the memphis game. Any suggestions on what to do while I am not at the game, I am sure things have changed since the last time I was there. Ill be there from Friday to Sunday. Any good bars or public tailgates? Thanks

Go ORANGE
beat memphis!

The general rule is that you shouldn't hit "the strip" either just before or after the game unless you are a Vol fan, young, and/ or enjoy steely dan's greates hits.

I have been there before, really crowded though. Not that it's bad, just hard to get a drink sometimes.

I'll probably be there. But we have a shortage in the office, so I am not sure.

I said the same thing. I am already making preps for next year in Ktown, and will be attending the UK game. It is great to be back. Go Ainge.

Not sure if I am going to come or give my tickets to someone else. I don't think I could stand another let down. :banghead: :banghead:

I'm going and I'm leaving at halftime so I don't have to sit through all of that Delta Gamma Crappa bullsh*t.

After the game, you should check out downtown -- there has been a lot done on Gay Street and in Market Square. Check out the Downtown Grill and Brewery and Sapphire on Gay Street, then head over to Preservation Pub on the square for live music and an unbelievable adult beverage selection.

If you're looking to eat, try Riverside Grill (if you can get reservations) for traditional fare, Nama (sushi), or Mango's (eclectic). Out West, Conner's is very good.

I'll be there, but I never have liked sitting through all of the homecoming stuff. If you have a hard time getting a beer at O'Charleys then try Charlie Peppers upstairs.

If you want a party atmoshpere on gameday, Calhouns is still pretty good. You are right next to the river and very close to the stadium. It can get crowded but not insane like the O'Chuck's parking lot. There are alot of RVs nearby and people are usually ready to offer a beer or munchie. Also, the Vol navy docks are pretty close to there. Also, if you continue walking down the riverfront street away from the stadium there is a more upscale restaurant (name escapes me). It has nice outdoor seating with river views. i ate there before the Bama game last year and it was excellent but little more pricey than stuff on the strip.

Have fun!

Calhouns BBQ??

Yep. They have one on Neland Drive very close to the stadium. They have indoor and outdoor bars, a huge deck, and thier own boat docks. It is a pretty decent place before and after the games. The crowd tends to be a little older sicne all the students and recent grads tend to go for the strip.
