First game I ever attended. Got the tickets from my parents for my 13th birthday. We took the camper from St. Joe to Kodak and stayed at the KOA campground. Went to the game and then the national park for a couple of days. The fall colors, the 93K crowd packed out, the beautiful campus, I WAS HOOKED.

Stunk to see them lose, but I was just amazed seeing them at all. Tony Robinson, Johnnie Jones, William Howard, Tim McGee, Reggie McKenzie, Charles Davis, Andre Creamer, the Reveiz brothers, Jimmy Colquitt...and of course Coach Majors. Really glad I got to see those players in person.

They lost the game 17-12, and really had a pretty average season, but you could see the talent shaping up that was going to do something really special the next season. The best part is that it was our last loss to KY in Neyland. That KY team was, believe it or not, a top 20 team that year.

None of my 4 kids, ranging from 22yo to 15, have seen them beat us in our house. Here’s to keeping that streak going!

The version of the game (reduced to an hour) that is on YouTube begins with some great John Ward footage.

Uniforms looked great in all orange. Who remembers what THIS position was called? LOL

Alex...What is a Fullback?

Haven't seen one of those in orange about 25 years...

I know, right?!?!! Was an effective weapon back in the day. From that team, William Howard wen on to play for the Falcons and had a nice career.

Ha well I don’t know about the concerts but it was a very beautiful day at the game. Lived up to the name “Promised Land”.
