Mel Kipper has Eric Berry at #2 on his big board, right behind Sam Bradford.

So if you are an NFL GM, with needs at safety and qb, who do you take?

QB over safety everytime -- except Berry over Bradford.

Glad I don't have to make that decision.

I would say QB as well. I would love 2 see Berry go 2 Indy but I know that won't be happening.

He'll probably go to the Lions or some other teams where players go to die. :(

When the inept Raiders earn the worst record in football and therefore the first round draft pick (which they've already traded), the Patriots aren't going to select Matt Stafford

Bruce Feldman, THIS WEEK, said Berry should be the #1 overall pick. I cant link it b/c its from ESPN insider. Great article though!

If he was eligable to go is last years draft it was thought the Lions would have selected him #1. As a Lions fan, I hope Berry goes far, far away from Detroit.

QB is never a sure thing, but Eric Berry is about as sure a thing as they come on defense. No offense to Sam Bradford--he's a very talented player and I wish him all the success in the world. But Vol or not, I would make EB the top pick. Defense wins championships and what a guy to build a defense around...

The flameout rate of top 10 QBs is way too high for me to probably ever take one first, if I were a GM. If I had the #1 pick and I needed a QB, I'd trade down.

A great safety is pretty much a sure thing though. If you have the overall #1 pick in the draft, then you pretty much have to get a guy who's going to play in half a dozen Pro Bowls or you've blown it. Eric Berry would sure seem to be that kind of player.

Didn't the 49ers have to swap 3rd round picks with the Bears just for talking to Briggs? Hopefully the Titans can prove the Redskins tampered and for actually signing Haynesworth, the Redskins and Titans swap first round picks. Redskins will tank like always. I would love for Berry to be a Titan but it won't happen. Sigh...

I would also love to see the Saints trade up to get Berry...

History shows that the #1 pick will be a quarterback, but the recent trend of failures at that position would lead me in another direction if I were a GM. Look at what the Texans did when they drafted Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush, Vince Young, etc. They got pummelled in the media, but looks like it turned out to be a great move on their part.

When you have a sure thing on defense or O-line, it sure would be hard to pass up. And Berry is as sure-thing as you can get.
