Can you meet Smokey and pet him at any time prior to the games?

I know he stays with one of the frats on campus. Do they allow people to stop by and see him prior to the Vol Walk and the game activities?

The cheerleaders bring Smokey down the same path as the Vol walk in front of the players. Took my son to every home game last year. It was his highlight to be able to pet Smokey before every game.

Oh, Kiffen may change things up, but if you line up for the walk along Phillip Fulmer in front of the stadium, line up on the stadium side of the road, they historically have placed barriers along the other side that will hold you back.

The frat that takes care of smokey on game weekends is alpha gamme rho (agr). They are located almost directly accross from the rec center -in between the delt house and figi-. Depending on who you are... If you politely knock at their door and ask them nicely I'm sure they will let you see and pet smokey. During my frat days I would pet smokey if I saw them walking it and they were always somewhat friendly -frat guys don't generally like frat guys from other fraternities...- if u have kids or something there should be no problem. Good luck

Smokey is most definitely not an "it." :)

The last 2 or 3 years they have brought Smokey out to Volunteer Village. You can pet him there and have your picture taken with him. Volunteer Village is a great place for the kids. They have different games for kids and hand out some free stuff. Last year they had a football skills course that was pretty challenging for kids.

In the past both 2 and 4 legged Smokeys have waited for the Volwalk at the top of the hill on Peyton Manning Pass about where Circle Park comes back in. No problem for folks to go out in the street with them for pictures. When the team got to that point, Smokey (and his handlers) lead the Volwalk down into the stadium.

They have said that the Volwalk will now start at the Torchbearer. I haven't heard exactly what that means (are they getting off the buses there instead of the practice facility?), but things might be a bit different.

As previously mentioned, Smokey and the handlers walk from the frat house to Volunteer Village, and many people stop them for pictures along the way.

He is at the village alot next to the invisible fence tent. Also its Fiji not Figi. Also after the game is the best chance you will have to get a photo. They walk from the stadium down greek row starting at Phi Sig and going behind Sigma Chi and out by Sigma Nu and then to their house.

When its time for the Vol Walk just keep a good eye out for some of the Football team trainers walking around with Smokey. I was able to get some great pictures of him once
