Means Nothing!!

Most accomplished?

Won a title as a backup, one as a starter and one Heisman? Please. Stop spewing for us the ESPN marketing gibberish.

By the by, did you see his backup yesterday? Do you think we would have won anything with Tebow?

Yes. Most accomplished. Thank you for providing the evidence - two rings and a Heisman. You can call it marketing gibberish, I'll call it fact. Fair?

Your question is vague, are you asking if UT would have won 'more' with Tebow, then the answer is yes. I do not believe the Vols would have lost 7 last year with him under center. If you're asking if we'd have won any title then the answer is no - we didn't have the horses.

Anyone expressing negativity about the game today does not bleed orange, i was tickled to death with the outcome, dont give a damn if it was the hilltoppers or the pittsburgh steelers. The freshman guys really stepped it up, BB looked like a Mack truck ! Go Vols regardless of who your playing.

+1

Two rings? Surely you're not giving him even remote credit for the first? He happened to be on a team capable of winning it. He had nearly nothing to do with it.

Alabama's history is filled with guys with more titles, if you include the bench years and mop up duty. UF has others too.

Tebow is great in that system, but there are plenty with one heisman and one title at the helm. In fact, his heisman campaign was littered with 4 hideous losses and UT representing the east in the title game.

We almost doubled the betting line,so don't give me that BS about how weak WKU is. Their coach was shooting his mouth off all summer about how they were catching the Vols at a most vulnerable time. We have had some great teams in Knoxville over the years, but I can only recall a few times we scored and played defense like yesterday and we have always had a team or two like WKU on schedule. For the Vols to play as dominately and cleanly (very few mistakes or penalties) as they did, while sporting an entirely new staff and many new players was remarkable and it doesn't matter who the opponant was. So, STFU with the negativity and enjoy watching these guys play! Last years team couldn't have scored 63 on cardboard cutouts! GO VOLS BASH THE BRUINS!!!!

You keep telling yourself that, rationalize why he's average... Meanwhile rational people will continue to understand that the kid is special despite him picking Florida. There's not a coach in this country that would not want him under center and it's not because of what he's accomplished; it's because he's a competitior and has more intagibles than anyone else in the country. FWIW, he was screwed out of the hypesman last year by the midwest voters - everyone who understands how the Heisman voting system works knows this. Frankly I quit giving a Shi7 about the Heisman after Manning was hosed. But despite what you want to believe, facts argue that he is the most accomplished quarterback in SEC history.

I know you want to tear the kid down because he's a Gator, I can appreciate that because I too hate the Gators. But if you can give me one example of an SEC quarterback that has accomplished (titles, individual awards, stats) as much or more as he has then I'll digress.

Until then, keep rationalizing.

It means we are going in the right direction. It means we are 1 - 0. It means we are playing better than last year. And it means Tennessee had a little better stats than Fla. with the same level of opponet and many of our guys are younger, too! Go Vols!

:pepper:There one thing that I noticed more than anything. It is something I don't think I've seen in a TN team in a long time. They played real footbal for four quarters!

That says it all!!

Spurrier would not have ever played him. Wuerffel has a similar resume at UF. Grossman got screwed worse in losing the heisman a UF.

Bob Stopps would not play Tebow, nor would Mack Brown or Pete Carroll. He wouldn't play over Clausen. Stafford would have played in front of him. Sans the special offense, he's a terrible quarterback.

For all this fancy history, he has won one Heisman and or title as a meaningful contributor.

You keep spouting back for us the TV lines and I'll keep with reality.

that is rediculous, we are not excited that we beat WKU, we are excited in the manner in which it was done. Offensive line looked like it had sound blocking schemes, wide recievers ran good crisp routes and caught the balls they should have without many bad drops, D played with speed and pursuit to the play, running backs didnt dance around in the hole but hit it with power, coaches called good plays to get positive yards from looking at what the defense would give us., and Crompton didnt throw like uncle Rico this time around. Its not about the W (although it nice), we're excited to see the way in which the team played together and the way the team showed that they have bought into the new systemm understand it, and know how to preform in a game atmosphere.

I bet you'd have said the same thing had we beat Wyoming last year......its all about preparation, gameplan, and execution, not the quality of the opponent that has everyone in orange excited about the season from what we've seen yesterday

It means a win! It means the start of a new generation got off in a great way with 4 quarters of good play. It means we have some freshmen that can contribute. It sure gave me a smile yesterday which means a bunch to me.

It seems you can't reason with the unreasonable.

And the D held on 3rd down and got off the field.
