Maze blames Craft

I've wondered why the "third" attendee of the BBQ was cleared to play at UT by the NCAA for such an egregious violation of NCAA rules.

I can look at a obese person and call them fat, and I would be telling the truth. But is it right? He could have easily kept his mouth shut and none of this would have been uncovered. It is pretty obvious that this is where this whole mess originated, and forgive me for being offended that he is a rat.

Why try and demean someone who tells the truth. Whenever I hear someone resorting to "derogatory names" rather than factual arguments it indicates to me that they have no argument. Like how labor unions call workers "scabs", or how racists call people "_________".

If Aaron told the truth about the situation, then why should we not learn to take our lumps for the violation and move on. It's Pearl's fault, not Aaron's.

BTW, I don't remember a herd of UT fans on here calling BP a "rat" for turning in a rule breaking competitor years ago. I thot he did an acceptable thing then and "IF" Craft did it now, then it;s acceptable too.

It's amazing to me how people demand adherence to the rules when it's in there favor, but see little problem with breaking those same rules when that would favor them. :whistling:

Being at the cookout, while a violation, wasn't egregious. Lying about having the kids to the cookout was egregious. It's the lying part that got Pearl. It has nothing to do with what he lied about and everything to do with the simple fact he lied. The NCAA does not tolerate being lied to and will nail you to the wall when they can prove you are lying.

I don't know the answer so I'm asking. Does the NCAA usually interview the coach for these minor infractions?

First of all, it wasn't a barbeque. It was a cookout.

Second, the violation was a secondary. It became a major violation when Pearl decided to lie about the cookout.

By NCAA bylaws, using Maze's analogy, Craft stole a Snickers, Pearl robbed a bank. You don't see it that way. I get it. But coaches have to follow NCAA guidelines and Pearl knew he was jumping from a minor infraction to a major one by telling that lie. If he hadn't lied, he'd still be our coach. But you can't unring the bell.

considering they both committed the same offense, I'd say they either both stole a Snickers or both robbed a bank. thats just me tho.

I actually heard an interesting possibility on Radio 990 this morning concerning BP and Daddy Craft and the situation of the Phone calls from BP to Craft. The caller, frequent caller who often appears to not argue with the best logic, asked writer32, the infamous Griff, about the ill advised phone calls to Craft from BP to "bully" or influence him. Actually, what writer32 said made some sense and I even went back to the Letter of Allegations to make sure the facts were accurate. One phone call was made by BP to Craft the day of the NCAA showing the picture to BP. The rest of the calls were later. Why would BP threaten Daddy Craft after the pictures were shown to him and he knew they had him dead to right? Doesn't make a lot of sense. Not trying to defend BP here-that's history. But it is interesting to see the LOA and some of the things in there may actually be "fluff."

Calhoun lied to the NCAA and they did less to him than they will do to Pearl.

Maze is in large measure making the point that Craft is a real POS because it was only after we sent Ohio State home from the NCAAs that Matta and the rest of those snitching bastards called enforcement on Bruce.

^^^this^^^

Alabama had a major advantage conferred by paying players. They sometimes did this on visits. Fulmer turned them in.

Matta got angry because they lost and decided to try to lash out by reporting Pearl for a minor violation he gave evidence to the NCAA of.

Craft came to the family cookout knowing he was not supposed to. His father and Aaron crapped on TN first when he decommitted from the program that pursued him while osu was still uncertain about him and second when he satisfied penguin man by snitching.

Yep pretty much the exact same.

Can't really blame Bobby for his comments, he is defending his former coach that gave him a real chance to play D1 ball and be succesful, which he was. I like Bobby and wish him well regardless of if he is a little misguided with his comments

Exactly. Perspective is a tricky thing. Of course Pearl needed to be fired - you absolutely can't lie to the NCAA and keep your job. However, to say that Bobby's comments are misguided is a little ridiculous. Try some empathy and look at it from his point of view.
