Saw where Mayo will be moving to outside LB to fill McCoy's spot. I suppose if they think Wilson is the guy they need to get on the field then Mayo moving to the outside makes sense. Thoughts?

He will have to play outside in the pros, IMO. I think he is a little small to play MLB though he's listed at 230, he looks smaller.

:clapping: for Elix getting some real PT.

Mayo is a beast in the middle... and he'll be even more dangerous on the outside, especially as a pass rusher. If we jump out on top of the Badgers, he's gonna have a field day.

Mayo played outside in 2005 and 2006. He'll be fine.
Yeah, I think it's a pretty good move and the most natural fit. I'm not usually a big fan of moving guys around at this point in the season but it probably makes the most sense and gets Wilson on the field at MLB.

Getting the best players on the field is going to help out the most. I like the way Wilson plays. Isn't he a little undersized at MLB? Who are the backups at ROLB,MLB, and LOLB?

Here is Fulmer's quote:

"If we started today, it would be Jerod Mayo on the outside because he's familiar with it, Ellix Wilson in the middle since he's most familiar with that and has played there, and we expect Ryan Karl to be ready and able to go," Fulmer said. "After that, Dorian (Davis), Adam Myers-White and Nevin (McKenzie) are all kind of in that mix at Sam (strongside) linebacker.

Mayo is better on the outside IMO.

He is more of a pure pass rusher OLB that you might see in a 3-4 in the pros imo.

MLB's need to be tackling machines who can hit the running gaps and stuff them (after shedding a block to do so) as well as drop back into coverage.

OLB's strike me as more pass rushers from the edge and hash-to-sideline tacklers, which is more on speed than strength.

Im fine wherever Mayo is playing.. he is a helluva playmaker..
and he's the best tackler on the team.
