First off, let me say, that I am NOT a Fulmer apologist. I think i was time for him to go last year, but here is something else to think about...

Where do we get our players? What is Tennessee as a recruitment state? Something like 37th? So we go outside the state, and outside the conference to find supposed "blue chip" players. It absolutely PAINS me to hear comments like Ainge's about the 2006 Alabama game. When asked, "What does this game (Alabama) mean to you?" He gave the pat answer, "Game number 7 of 12". COME ON! This is Tenn-Alabama... how about a little freakin' emotion? From Anyone. Does any player on the team have any heart? Like him or not, Fulmer has always been a Tennessee man, he does understand the importance of games like the ones lost yesterday... this group of supposed talents we have watched for three years, I'm not sure they care about much of anything. I'm not sure it's all Phil's fault... You can lead the horses to water... but they just might pee in it... Remember, maybe the devil you know is sometimes better than the devil you hire. Thoughts?

There are several coaches that recruit outside the state their school is in. This is the worst defense of Fulmer. This school will sell itself.

Look at what Pearl has done with a near nonexistent basketball program

I can show a zillion people who share more emotion than CPF about the games, if you want to make a decission between sharing the emotions about a rivalry or winning the rivalry... i would pick the second one 10 out of 10 times....

I just don't fully understand it. We USED to be great under fulmer. What changed? The answer is the style of play. We are running the same plays we ran in the
80's.

It's like my grandpa saying i wont adapt to computers... the style has changed... creativeness and innovation is the order of the day...

The talent is way down from '93-'00. And Chief cannot bail him out this year with the defense because the D-line blows. This is the worse Chavis D ever.

There's no doubt the talent level at Tennessee has dropped off since 2001. But that's a reflection on the coaches, just like their performance on Saturdays.

Assuming Tennessee does have a new coach within the next 1-2 years, or even if Fulmer is still around, it will not be easy to recruit top level talent anymore. In the 90s when Tennessee was in their hayday, Fulmer went all over the southeast racking up talent. But the composition of the SEC is much different now. Saban and Tuberville are locking up Alabama. Richt is locking up Georgia. Spurrier locking up South Carolina. Kentucky will begin locking up their state if they continue to improve. And with Butch Davis at UNC, he will start locking up NC. Given how poor high school football is in Tennessee, it is going to be difficult to bring in the level of talent that the Vols got in the 90s.

That's what I'm afraid of,recruits will look at Fulmer and laugh and say thanks but no thanks.

I think a good year of football can bring good talent... A new coach who can bring us out of the mediocrity will bring more talent.... our own pearl is an example... we have talent coming from west coast to play "basketball" at UT.....

That is SO not the answer.

This same offense was burning teams off the field just six years ago. And "those plays" have nothing to do with us giving up 40-50 pts per game on a regular basis.

It also has nothing to do with our special teams playing so bad for years.

...or our poor line blocking for several years.

It's so obvious that the issues are far more "the scheme".

Not much going on at tennessee these days. It has to affect recruiting when you effectively have what is known as a hasbeen coach.

there is a dissconnect between the players and the coaches. players have not bought in. hat had a great quote from pat riley earlier, something about when players dont respond to your voice or something, but it was spot on.

Did anyone see that news clip of Fulmer at the practice this evening??? He looked really rough. The kind of rough where he didn't get one second of sleep last night.

Majors recruited great at UT then went to Pitt and struggled. Of course, fulmer was his recruiting coordinator at the time, but UT has some impressive facilities, tradition, etc.

Sure he's okay. He's better than okay. He's a legend and has a national championship under his belt. Don't let this one get away from you. You will never have another like him.
