Two way player next year and throw him about 3 or 4 deep balls a game. Heisman time. He'd be a headhunter and a ball hawk in the secondary. I like the idea.. Also like the chances of him coming down with the catch. He's a very good deep threat.

And the only INT for Dobbs was a 50/50 ball that Jennings had taken away from him. So, pump the brakes.

More reason to move him to D. Can't fight for a ball as a WR but knows how to take it away as a DB!

Problem with your post, KB, is the particular post I responded MBH was referring to Jennings, not Byrd.

Not sure I would say JJ has been wasted, but I do think you could easily argue that JJ has been under utilized considering his talent. Just a result of being a #2/#3 WR though - not a coaching issue. That's one of Mathew's reasons for moving him to Safety.

Brandon Johnson can replace both Malone and Jennings to be honest with you..he is a star in the making..i think a lot of fans don't appreciate how good this kid going to be...

This was also part of Mathew's point. Johnson and Callaway were showing they are more than capable already and then he mentioned V. Perry and other WRs too.

We don't have a strong enough WR Corp to do that

Disagree. Our WR corp is one of our strongest areas when you consider the current freshmen (true and redshirt), V. Perry, and other incoming freshmen.

I'm sure Kamara can't wait to come back and see Kelly get the majority of the carries while he plays a hybrid position. That'll keep him here for sure!

Considering that's more or less what he'll play in the NFL it might not be a bad choice. Percy Harvin got drafted in the first round playing that position. There's no reason to think he wouldn't benefit from another year in college. Right now he's maybe a 3rd-4th round pick at the very best. He could come back his senior season and put up 750-800 yards receiving and rushing with 10-12 total TDs (which is definitely possible) and show that he can put up big numbers throughout an entire season it could be enough to make him a first or second round pick. Especially with teams in the NFL starting to use those type of players.

Jennings' future is at S if he wants to make it in the NFL...
He's beyond aggressive and has the size to be an all-pro at Safety.

It would be a smart move that would benefit the team....

A new DB coach would be even better.

Jennings has a future in the NFL regardless of which side of the ball he is on

Apologies, but that's why I said "Byrd?" However, we can just as easily insert Jennings. Here, let me try....

Jennings? Yeah, dang near wasted. 2.6 catches for 38 yards and .5 touchdowns per game. I guess he would truly be wasted if he was only averaging 1.3 catches, 19 yards per game and .25 touchdowns??

I added "dang near" before wasted since Jennings has been included in a couple of games this year, versus Florida and Georgia.

As I'm listening to Doug Mathews he, again, mentioned in length his opinion that Jauan Jennings will go to defense next season.

I wish it would happen this week.

We have no play makers in the defensive backfield and he is the best athlete on the field and maybe in the country in terms of versatility. Meaning he can play multiple posistions at an extremely high level.

I was sitting in the stands yesterday right before the Hail Mary try and was yelling "put Jauan Jennings back there".

Well, they did, and his first defensive play resulted in an interception.

He has played 1 snap on defense and is tied for second in interceptions on the team.

Unreal.

He also wants Tyler Byrd moved over there which would be huge too.

We would get much more production out of Jennings and Bryd on defense. Allowing them to play defense allows them opportunities to make tons of plays.

He also says he could see Todd Kelly Jr moving to Outside Linebacker. With his great ability to tackle.

Doug keeps repeating that he hasn't talked to any coaches in Knoxville because it sounds like he was approached by people....not sure who??...

Doug, by far, knows his stuff. Don't be shocked if some or all of this happens....

Byrd was listed as a DB on the recruiting boards and JJ would be good anywhere, and the d backfield has gave the OL a lot of comp as the weakest links on the team!
Problem is , the next couple years they are probably our top 2 Recievers .
We need to land a couple big time recruits on either side of the ball so we will be good in both areas.
