Chaz is rightfully getting love tonight and a thread. But Mashack needs one too. I actually find myself watching him work on defense and not watching the ball at times.

He was as dominant on defense in this tournament as Chaz was on offense. He reminds me of Dennis Rodman. He just makes life miserable for people. If this were the 80s/90s he be drafted just to be a defensive menace.

Mashack and Zeigler are the keys to the smothering defense.
I dread losing them more than any other player recently. I love DK and Chaz looks great, but it's easier to find people who can score than it is for people to relentlessly defend and do it well for as many minutes as they play. Especially the Mashack role where he's not getting the ball in his hands on offense all the time like ZZ. He's just relentless, knowing he's not going to get glamour stats most nights.

Jahmai is an absolute dog and the co-alpha on this team with ZZ...can't say enough about what they do to opposing teams. I thought that L'ville kid was going to chuck the ball at JM and walk off the court multiple times during the 2nd half of the UL game...lol.
Love watching jahmal play defense … his nick name should be super glue . The guy is just relentless Staying with his man. You can just see the frustration in the one he is guarding …. He is a true VFL thanks jahmal for your hard ass work you put in. GO VOLS. Baby

Come tourney time . . . As JM and ZZ go . . . So goes the team. Probably can add Lanier to the list as well . . . But leadership and experience in the tournament will make ZZ and JM our most important players.

Zakai had 2 performances in this tournament shooting the ball that were not good, yet we beat two opponents handily. His defense and ability to dissect the opposition’s defense will be there each night.

He's a better perimeter on-ball defender than Rodman ever was

Be happy we still almost a whole season with them

I’m convinced that he’s going to find his way to the next level as a 3 and D player. He’s exceptional at both those skills and a sneaky well-rounded player in general.

He probably won’t get drafted, but if he gets his foot in the door some coach is going to fall in love with him.

Unfortunately, not with that set shot that he has from 3.

I love that both guys are so intensely aggressive but cut up and make things fun for their teammates....last night's post-game interview of Lanier is a great example of their personalities as leaders. Team chemistry is not talked about nearly as much as other metrics but is as, or more, important than almost any other factor.

He’s by far my favorite player. Plays like a dog, unselfish and is a great athlete.

Mashack is a true baller. The sort of guy that gets the game and has the athleticism and talent to do anything you need him to do. We'll miss Zeigler a ton, and ZZ is a great player, but Mashack is such a get-it-done glue guy that I feel we'll miss him just as much. Plays tough, defends tough, drives tough. The sort of guy you need to win the big ones.

100%

CRB also deserves a lot of credit because it all starts with the culture he created and how CRB and staff recruit esp in the crazy new transfer world which has cost more than 1 elite coach their job and some to quit.
