Actually he lied to his uncle who told Tennstud who posted the info.

Apparently he only made a 17 on his test and needed an 18. But apparently he is taking two online classes to get his gpa up, never heard of that, so its back to wait and see.

You know, I wonder sometimes whether some parents really cared about their kids' academics until the point it looked like they were going to college on a full ride.

(Not saying anything in the least about Walls' parents, just something I'd thought about)

I open the thread ready to throw out the rocker smiley, and then I get bad news. Now I get to use this one.:cray:

Read on another board that he is up to 6'5" and 270 pounds.

Sounds like a beast of a DE if he doesn't get much bigger. I just wonder if he's kept his 4.6 speed.

This young man will contribute this year if he becomes eligible. What do you think.

That would make him about 15 lbs shy of being one of the best DT prospects in the country... and providing an explanation why UT's coaches aren't in the panic for DT's that most of us think they ought to be.

I love your optimism SJT, always have. I hope that Walls is a beast, but he will be a LB or DE ala Little. Hall and/or Williams have more potential for DT. But, we still need to sign DT's this season, that is the obvious need. Our offensive recruiting is almost done outside of huge pickups like Oku, Moses, Brown, etc. It's time to add to the defensive talent, especially on the line.

I'm not being an optimist or pessimist on this. I don't really care where he plays as long as he contributes. My point was that if he has really, really gone from 230 to 270 in a matter of months... and can do it without losing speed... and can add a few more lbs...

If I remember correctly I saw a guy post something showing one of the rags opinions of who were the best DT's in the country this year. One of their top DT's was originally recruited as a RB.

FWIW, Chavis has been playing his DT's as light as 275-285.

I honestly doubt that Walls is at 270 if he was at 230 when he signed but...

He is at least 250-260. And apparently he is taking two classes that are extra credit and will push his GPA up to what he will need with his score to qualify. What worries me is he apparently hired a tutor and worked with the tutor for almost 2 months to prepare for the retake and got the same score.

I said about a week back in response to one of your posts that I think Marlon could be great player, and I agree about the coaches not being in a panic about getting DT's.

I personally don't think he moves immediately to DT, I think he begins at DE and provides quality depth behind Ayers, Brown, Martin, and Walker this year.

Unless he is on the juice there is no way he added 40 lbs and kept his speed in a matter of 4 months. I'd say the most he's at is 250, maybe 255. He will be a DE with that kind of weight. If he has the frame they might let him add some weight and play DT next year.

His weight was from when his profile was created, correct?(back last summer?) This info is coming from his uncle who i would think would know...but he did also say he was qualified....
