Skeeter just said he looks like the best back hes seen here since JL and hes 100%. Guys this cat could be this years breakout freshman, i.e. Lattimore. He does look beastly (no homo). What say you'ens?

Why does saying someone is beastly require a (no homo)?

Why does anything require a no home, racist, or an abundance of TLAs that don't apply?

I'm going to regret this post. I can feel it.

I'm not sure Lane will get the chance to have a Lattimore type impact with Poole likely starting at RB for at least the first part of the year and Neal also on the roster. Don't disagree he has a chance to be really special though.

If he has the ability to have a Lattimore type impact then he better get that chance no matter who is in front of him.

I'm on record saying he reminded me of Lattimore on film.

I'll be really surprised if Poole doesn't start the year first on the depth chart.

I don't think Jamal Lewis was a starter as a freshman from the get go either though. Is it possible that we actually have multiple quality backs on the team? When was the last time that happened?

What part of last year makes you think Dooley won't pull the trigger on starting a freshman, or that he won't play the most talented players?

Not to mention he ripped Poole in almost every press conference last year. Poole may be tough as nails, and a true VFL, but too often around here those qualities get confused for all SEC talent. They aren't.

Im sure TP will start. Not letting Lewis play is rather unpopular.

The more good running backs the better.

And you can be damn sure Dooley knows this. I have a feeling if Lane is just worlds ahead of Poole by the start of the season, Lane will start against Montana.

You can't see it? It was all over last season. Sticking with Matt Simms longer than any reasonable person would. Not giving Ja'Wuan James enough time. Keeping Stone and Fulton on the bench. Ignoring Brewer's obvious talents. Not giving Smith and Propst any reps.

Agreed. If Lane is the better back come September, he will start. With that said, him having more talent doesn't necessarily make him a better back [right now]. He is a freshman in the SEC after all. Bryce Brown had all the talent in the world, but it was Hardesty who ended up stealing the show that year. I realize Poole isn't on the level of Hardesty, but you get what I'm saying.

Poole has the experience, and as such I think he'll be given a chance to proved he's improved from last year's effort. Lane is a freshman who didn't participate in spring ball. Regardless of his talent level, I think it will be hard for him to convince Dooley that he's head and shoulders above Neal or Poole by the first game.

If he can do it on the field, however, I have no doubt Dooley will pull the trigger on making him the feature back.
