Whoever knew this was important enough to (1) know that it happened and (2) sit on it for almost a year. Sounds to me like maybe Mark Stoops wanted out so bad that he had this leaked through channels to apply more pressure to Kentucky to give him his giant cushy buyout. "He doesn't even want to be here!" "You have to get him out of here!" Etc., etc.

It's either that, or some connected individual at the highest level behind the fence at UK, either in the AD or a bigtime booster that would have reason to know that Stoops asked, who's fed up with the current state. In either case, you know the ship's on fire when people start firing off the dirty laundry like that. Successful programs always work together and pull together. Dysfunctional ones pull themselves apart. Someone in Lexington - someone - wants to detonate the whole thing now.

I heard he was owed $38M. Hard to believe he'd accept half, but then his record getting worse week by week. He stayed too long.
He should have took another job after Levis split.
