If he loses bad at Texas and against Louisville, he could retire per Kentucky Sports Network on their X account.

Sports Talk Jay also talked about this on his latest podcast.

He is not retiring unless they pay his buyout. No one is walking away from that guaranteed money. Now he may be happy to let them fire him.

I don't understand these inflated expectations at uk..I can't think of a better coach that they have ever had than Stoops. Who do they think they are going to hire better than Stoops?

I am not sure UK cares enough about football to even fire the guy. UK 🏀 beats Duke Tuesday and they will forget about Stoops and 🏈 until next August
A big part of the reason they've directed so much heat at Stoops the last few years is precisely because they've underperformed in basketball. They want something to get excited about. Flip the sports around, and that has happened here too.

He’s 57 and with the money he should have in the bank or guaranteed to him he could have a fun “retirement”. I will say though he’s not retiring unless they pay him his guaranteed money.
Right! If they give him the money, he would certainly walk away. Like a Coach Orgeron retirement.

Saw that Mark said he is not quitting. That would be stupid, even for Stoops. He wants that buyout so bad he can taste it. Kentucky forced him to come up with his own NIL while all the other schools in the conference have a team of people working on it. He’s going to force Kentucky to shape up or buy out.

Mark Stoops retire? Has he the self-confidence to do so? To move his ego out of the national public view?
