Mark Richt's Ship Has Finally Sunk.....No?

With all due respect, the fact that you only won 60% of the time against some of UT's bad teams isn't exactly helping your boy Richt's case.

You can't disrespect your previous teams like that. I have also stated in the past that I believe Neyland is the toughest place to play in the SEC.

With this in mind, do you think he makes it through the season? Beyond this season?

I think it comes down to the UF game. I could see him stepping down if UF blows us out. If not, he'll probably make it through the season but could be let go shortly after the season. CMR is going to have to go on a remarkable run to get the fanbase excited again because his approval rating amongst our fanbase is BAD right now. His loyalty to underperforming assistants is what has him in this position. I know, I know, that sounds very familiar.

Wasn't going to make a Fulmer reference. Just wanted an opinion.

You're right on the title of the thread. I jumped in on the argument about the Vol fan wanting CMR at UGA for a long time. My bad on not being clear.

Given the choice between five more years of Richt and the uncertainty of an UGA reboot with a new coach, it's an easy choice. Richt has a decent record against us but so does everybody else. And he has underachieved like hell with the resources at his disposal.

UGA could come back and end up 10-2...or more likely...

lose to Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi St., Auburn, and....Vanderbilt.

I said it before...I think UGA will be fighting for a bowl game and 4th in the East this year. No guarantee they make either.

The numbers on Richt are pretty damning:

6-9 since start of last year.
13-14 in the last 27.
13-13 against the SEC East since 2006.

I'd argue that Richt is in a place Fulmer never was even at his worst.

And thanks to him A) not being an UGA alum, and B) never having won the mythical national championship, this isn't an issue that's ripping the UGA fanbase apart at all, unlike the Great Fulmer Debacle. Every one of them I talk to agrees that this is a make-or-break year for Richt, and they all pretty much even agree on the parameters of what he needs to do.

I heard he needs 9 wins.

Nine wins will save him as long as two of those wins are UF and Tech. Winning the division would also save him. Anything short of that and he's probably gone.

The most interesting scenario would be if he runs the table other than Florida but the Cocks don't lose two SEC games and they win the division. 9-3 with a loss to UF and I'm still not sure he survives.
