Damn right he did! I know, there will be the nay saiers who will remind us he played in a glorified schrimage; however, there were 100000 screaming fans. Remember last year when he would practice well and then bomb on the field?

He's the man!

According to some on here ESPN hates us. Funny how you don't hear anything from them when ESPN does something positive for us huh ?

There HAS to be some reason the kid was so highly recruited. I never bought into the "poor-kid-who's-been-through-so- many-changes" story because I never saw any flashes of talent to back it up. But after watching him yesterday, I may have to backpedal a bit and say that maybe he really was needing a different system. I guess we will have to wait and see. It will be nice to be able to brag on the kid for a change if he turns out to be as talented as everyone says he is.

Like in the Shawshank Redemption... sometimes a guy just has to crawl through 400 yards of sewage before he gets his just reward.

I hope this is indicative of his whole season and the rest of the SEC (and many UT "fans") get to eat their crow.

speaking of ESPN, i was watching the Florida game where they had the "around the SEC" scores. And somehow, Tennessee wasn't on there and being the 1st game over. Coincidence?!?!?

With though it was Western Ky....Crompton showed us what he can do. Forget last year....he never had a real chance with that system. Kiffin has alot of faith in Crompton and I was so proud for him and for all Vol fans for his performance. Go Vols!

Is Crompton "The Man"? No. Was he extremely impressive yesterday? Yes. If he can continue to be anywhere near that efficient for the rest of the season against much stiffer competition, then he can stake a claim as being "The Man". Until then, it was an impressive start.

What would Crompton be like, if he had had someone working with him the previous years, like he has had these past few months.

A different system? No. He needed a glimpse of competent coaching, and there was absolutely none to be found under Fulmer.

I noticed how many Michigan vs. Western Michigan hightlights there were during the halftime of UGA/OSU and Bammer/Hokie games. 0 tennessee hightlights.

did you also notice the number of Big Ten games? I swear, i wanted Navy to kill Ohio State. Everyone there is just so overrated and i cant stand this.

They do this every year! They show like 7 big ten teams playing wusses and then the media acts like they are the greatest! The SEC in a way did this too, but you dont see THAT much attention! SCREW THE BIG TEN!!

I think that's a little harsh..or a lot. Sure it's fair to say that much/most of the post-title experience under Fulmer felt like a steady downward spiral, ending with that painful anti-crescendo last season, but no competence?! From the outside looking in, I think it's more fair to describe it as competence lost. No coach with a national championship and Fulmer's other accomplishments under his belt, can be fairly called devoid of competence. With that said...GO KIFFIN'S VOLS!!!

ESPN headquarters is in Connecticut.... the closest conference to them is the Big 10 (which has 11 teams by the way??) This is the reason for their bias. They are also bias towards the Patriots and UCONN women's basketball.

Damn yankees.:the_finger:

ESPN was kind enough to have the SEC network now, but i noticed it just dont have the attention, graphics, or even the talent for it to be a great network. It could use some work.

I guess what im trying to say is that the Big Ten (and Iowa) don't even have their own network on ESPN and they're getting more attention than us. Something is wrong. Stupid Yankees...

Michigan is the deer in the headlights. The media smells blood. Rodriguez loses that game and he's probably history. More that than the game itself.
