not sure if this has already been asked, but who do you think is the better back? Let's try not to be homers... unless you honestly believe Hardesty is better.

i say hardesty because he has put up close to the same numbers as ingram, with a much weaker supporting cast.

Hardesty behind Bama's oline would be scary. He runs behind walkons and redshirt freshman. Hardesty is the best back in the SEC, Ingram may be a better NFL prospect but Hardesty will be a 2nd or 3rd round pick IMO.

Hardesty runs with more heart, but Ingram is a better back. Ingram is the best back in the SEC, and he is only a sophomore.

Ingram has 1 more TD and 0.5 more yards per carry average. That said, Ingram definitely has a better supporting cast, OL in particular. Hardesty has had a couple of TD carries that have gone to Brown, bc of the way that UT is rotating its RB's this year. Ingram has had a few more catches than Hardesty, but Hardesty is getting more yards per catch.

Both really good backs, but I would give the slight edge to Hardesty bc he is doing more with less.

fwiw, hardesty racked up 300 of his yds against WKU and OHIO... weak opponents. and Igram has gotten 8 carries in one game and i think like 12 in another, so his totals could be a lot higher.

yea but ingram doesnt have 8 to 9 guys in the box everygame to run through... i think there both great backs but i think hardesty runs with more purpose and ingram has a scary supporting cast

I dont think any player in the country plays with as much heart as hardesty. Imagine what kind of stats he would have, had it not been for injuries...

Hardesty. He is getting his yards against defenses, that until recently, know we can't throw the ball.

I think it's a draw, but Trent Richardson will end up being better than both.

Oddly, for all the hype about his physical style coming out of high school, I feel like Bryce Brown will be a Reggie Bush-type, playing in the slot and catching passes out of the backfield. When his hands improve, he will really be dangerous, as he seems to have a great innate sense of how to get open already, an attribute few Vols receivers have possessed in recent years.

Not on topic for this thread, but I agree. I would love to see BB line up in the slot when Hardesty is in the back field. He seems to create in space.

I haven't seen Ingram play enough to really say either way. I know I wouldn't trade Hardesty for any other back out there. Let's hope Hardesty's performance against Bama puts him at the top in the SEC.

Hardesty definitely fits "our" needs the most. He hits the hole quick and gets whatever is there. Given the supporting cast, 8 in the box most of the time, and opponents knowing it is coming, it would be hard to vote against Hardesty. I think his role in the Florida game proved he was a great back. I think Ingram fits Bama's needs better because he is more of a home run threat. Hardesty would do well in any system unless it was a complex read system.

Considering what our O-Line is made of and what Bammer's O-Line is made of, I'd go with Hardesty.

Oh yeah? Ole Miss pretty much stacked the line with 8 in the box and he still had over 100 yds. Right now, I'd objectively say it's a toss up between the two backs.

Ingram. He's just the better back. He doesn't get nearly as many touches, puts up good numbers, and is only a sophomore.

I agree, but I would much rather try to tackle Ingram than Hardesty.

Hardesty punishes would be tacklers.

And yet Ingram is difficult to get a hold of (or at least appears that way in the Alabama games I have watched) in the first place.

Either one would be great on just about any team. But ya, Ingram would get the nod, imo.

Good call. Whiff and you try to do better next time. Get run over and you try to get up and not think about it the next time.
