Marc Curles, the Southeastern Conference referee who made a controversial call in the Arkansas-Florida game, apologizes for his mistake - ESPN
This is when he screwed Arkansas and helped UF with a bogus call.

SEC referee Marc Curles, part of suspended crew, has had rough time over calls | al.com

This is another game where his crew screwed UGA and helped LSU with a bogus call.

Who would decide whether or not he screwed up again? Fellow Georgia Tech grad Rogers Redding...The SEC is the best football conference in the United States, but we have pathetic and horrible officiating. Redding should be fired, and we should have a head of officiating who is willing to have performance based reviews of officials that results in termination when they have too many screw ups.

Redding went on the radio show of HUGE LSU fan Tim Brando to defend the refs. He said that they will not call a penalty if a player removes his helmet during a live play if the player is angry. I want TN to take their helmet off during a play at UGA after we are up by a lot whenever they miss a tackle. When the flag is thrown I want Rogers Redding to be exposed as the lying rat B that he is.

Mark Curles is a financial planner in Birmingham. If he is not going to be fired, he should be required to officiate every single Alabama vs. Auburn game from here on. He will inevitably screw one side, and hopefully Redding will defend him so that in the next year or two he can completely screw the other side. Then he can be left with financially planning for the money of people in Birmingham who are not Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama or Auburn fans...

An issue that is overlooked from the LSU game....the bogus pass interference call on Teague in the end zone. You just can't make that call at that point. Uncatchable pass? Little or no contact? Teague looking back at the ball?
That's the ref who should be reprimanded.

Yeah I don't see that pass being catchable. I was pretty pissed off at that one

I felt that way too. There so many holding calls not made against the LSU line it was unbelievable. They were actually tackling our guys many times, but no call. Oh well, it doesn't do any good to live in the past. GO VOLS BEAT georgia!!!

What I still cannot understand is how referee Steve Shaw was sent to work the UConn-Vanderbilt game. Steve Shaw is arguably the best ref in the SEC. I wish that the best refs would work the biggest games. Steve Shaw and Tom Ritter should always be sent to the biggest SEC games, because most of the time, they call a pretty fair game. That's just my opinion.

I agree about Marc Curles though. I have never liked him, and I'm not crazy about Matt Austin either.

Maybe we can get John Clougherty and Ted Valentine to switch from bball to fball.

You do wonder about gambling sometimes in CFB...

Anyone who had the points was not impacted on the UT bet, but LSU to win guys had to be thrilled with the PI call especially.

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so obvious that some of these officials are protecting the "big dogs".

After the NBA ref, Tim Donaghy, got busted a couple of years ago I believe it's only a matter of time before some NCAA referees are busted for the same type of stuff. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but some of the calls I see in the NCAA are so bad that I have a hard time believing money isn't involved.
