copy and pasted from a guy via scout.comAll this coaching shuffling is creating some wild opportunities. Next week is going to be an absolute blast to watch:
1. Manny Harris -- he will meet with the new head coach at Michigan in the next week and we should know whether (a) he is interested in staying there; and (b) whether Michigan is willing to give him a release.
2. Tyler Smith -- same situation as Manny Harris. He may be the most intriguing possibilities in the country because of his experience in a major conference. He was the 2nd leading scorer for Iowa. Is he (a)? Will Iowa (b)?
3. Beas Hamga -- at least he doesn't have to get a release from Iowa. But with the new coach coming on, we'll soon learn whether Iowa remains the team to beat for him.
4. Jurick -- with the recruiting evaluation period, the coaches can again watch and get more contact with recruits. Jurick better know that UT isn't going to wait around for him to pull a JJ Hickson on us. We may get a commitment on this one soon unless he wants to see Hamga wearing orange instead of him.
5. Singleton -- you get the sense this kid wants to pull the trigger on a commitment. I wonder whether we can convince him to help the program by being a leader in commiting to be a part of the 2008 class.
6. Michael Beasley -- this guy is the prize possibility of the 2007 class; does he really want to go to Manhattan, Kansas if the guy who recruited him is no longer there. I don't know that UT ever was in on him, but someone may be getting a very early Christmas present.
7. DeAndre Jordan -- talk about prizes in the 2007 class. The coach he signed with at A&M is in Lexington today putting on blue. If these schools release these players, but not to the school where the departed coach goes, one wonder what Mr. Jordan might do. He is the #8 player in the 2007 class, and the #1 rated 7 footer. He's the second rated Center behind Kevin Love. I'm sure one Steve Forbes had some contact with him before leaving A&M to come to UT. This guy could make the Vols one of the handful of favorites to get to San Antonio next year.
It should be a very hectic and exciting 10 days.
articles another guy posted on scoutThe two KY articles remind me of what was written about CBP when he first came. The HS coaches are anxious to see how hard BG will recruit in-state. Hopefully it will take him a year (or two) before he will have much success, but who knows.![]()
As juniors, Bud Mackey of Scott County orally committed to Indiana, and Scotty Hopson of University Heights said he will attend Mississippi State. Darius Miller of Mason County has yet to make a commitment.
Weve lost too many good athletes out of state for several years, Keller said. We dont need to go to New York and other places. Kids live and breathe basketball, and their dream is to play for UK.
http://www.kentucky.com/601/story/36362.html Three of the top 50 recruits in the 2008 class as ranked by Rivals.com are from Kentucky: No. 10 Scotty Hopson of University Heights in Hopkinsville, No. 38 Darius Miller of Mason County and No. 48 Bud Mackey of Scott County.
Although Hopson and Mackey have already verbally committed to schools - Hopson to Mississippi State and Mackey to Indiana - they may still be swayed to join UK's 2008 recruiting class because neither has signed a letter of intent.

Neither Legion nor Harris said they had not come to a decision on whether to remain with U-M, but both said they were pleased with their meetings with Beilein and they still were strongly considering honoring their letters-of-intent.
"I'm opening up my recruiting," Harris said. "I'm not looking at one or any school in particular. Michigan is still a school I'm looking at."
Harris hopes to talk again with Beilein, likely Tuesday.
http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070407/SPORTS0201/704070386/1049/SPORTS05 While Aminu was struggling for the Georgia Stars, he did have help from Tanner Smith, who was solid in the first half, and Wesley Witherspoon, who was solid in the second half.
Smith, a scrappy 6-foot-5 guard, hit tough shots against a defense that was as pesky as he was on offense. Smith is quicker on the offensive end of the floor than people realize. He made some gritty shots.
Murphy Holloway didn't seem too phased with matching up with Monroe, the nation's top player. Holloway, a gritty 6-foot-6 (thought he was taller) forward was great on the defensive end of the floor and gave Monroe trouble with his physical, in-your-face style. Holloway came up with a huge steal on an in-bounds pass when he jumped high to snatch Monroe's entry pass. The Ravens turned the ball over and then the game but Holloway had his good moments in the defeat.
