Not a surprise.

The former Tennessee star QB, of course, retired from the NFL earlier this year. Active NFL players are not eligible for the College Hall. Manning was a consensus First Team All-American and Heisman Trophy runner-up in 1997 who won the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien Awards and the NFF Campbell Trophy. He is Tennessee's all-time leader in wins (39), passing yards (11,201) and TD passes (89), among other categories.

Yes as soon as you retire from the game you are eligible. All the professional leagues make a player/coach wait 5 years as opposed to the college ranks. Same happened for Steve Spurrier as a coach. He's on the ballot as a first-time coach candidate.

It is actually very interesting that Woodson isn't on the ballot. He also retired at the end of the last NFL season. Surprising that the Heisman runner up is on the ballot and the winner is not.

Manning and Woodson most likely will be enshrined at Canton together. I feel like Manning was robbed of that Heisman, too, but there is no denying they both had HOF caliber careers.
