Make sure you say "Merry Christmas"...

It really doesn't matter. I use Merry Christmas and Happy Hollidays interchangably, unless I know or am meeting someone who celebrates a different faith.

I've always used"Merry Christmas".I just refuse to try to be or worry about being politically correct when I say it.

The whole concept is asinine.........

The celebration I call Christmas has been around since the day Jesus Christ was born to Mary. When they named it Christmas I dunno, I wasn't there.

Merry Christmas!!!!

you know people are told to say happy holidays because "merry christmas" could be offensive, well you know what, i am part of the silent majority that thinks that NOT saying Merry Christmas is offensive! But we dont have the plight of American culture, the ACLU on our side.. so i guess majority rule with minority rights is out the door, it should be now called high powered attorney rule and majority submission...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

To be honest with you if I say Merry Christmas and it offends someone I really don't care. I know what CHRISTmas means to me and I put my faith before offending someone else.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Well said. My water bill has "Happy Holidays" printed on it. I am going down there this afternoon to complain and inform them I am offended by that phrase and request that future documentation addressed to me during this time of year say "Merry Christmas" or nothing at all.

See, that's where some of you are missing the point. It's not an offensive term, it's just not applicable. I live in a Jewish neighborhood and it wouldn't make sense for me to wave at my next door neighbor and yell Merry Christmas. He wouldn't be offended, but I'd completely wiff on my goal of spreading holiday cheer.

As a Christian I can apprciate people that celebrate other holidays. I have no problem with Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings, or Merry Christmas depending on the setting. To see it any other way, in my opinion, is just trying to start problems.

i see your point and it also makes sense. Im not talking about forcing it down people's throats, cause that goes against the whole principle of our faith. What im trying to express is my frustration with the way precedents are being set in our legal system regarding certain practices. A lot of instances one person is getting mad because something is going on, and it has no direct effect on them and they are pusuing legal action and winning and making the rest of us have to deal with it. For example, a few years ago, a knoxville school (cant remember the name) was forced to remove student led prayers because ONE parent got angry about it. So at graduation the entire senior class stood up during the middle of the ceremony and recited the Lord's prayer. THe problem we are running into IMO is that there is no middle ground on these issues. Neither side wants to give or take any ground when it comes to these types of issues...

I will continue to say Happy Holidays. I am not the least bit concerned that it may offend someone.

It doesn't offend me to hear "happy holidays" , but I am not going to not say "Merry Christmas" for fear of offending someone. If we worried about offending someone every time we spoke there wouldn't be much said.:)
