Major Shout Out To Mays

I love leaders by example. It's easy to holler and scream but those who tough it out and still try to go on get my vote.

Mays had a huge painful limp AND an injured hand but refused to leave the field.

There is a leader for you.

That's a joke for you. In case you haven't noticed, we run the hurry up/no huddle. Mays limping around like a wounded Civil War solider, hobbling on national television to the point that it's called out by the garbage commentary guys is disgusting. The offense is designed to hurry up to the line after the play, God knows how much time he wasted holding things up and it further makes Heupel look incompetent by not yanking him. Even that one Gator in the pile, you could just tell he looked uneasy in that scene. I'm surprised he wasn't carted from the field.

I know hindsight is 20/20, but this was not a game we were going to win with or without him. Might have been better to sit him again this week so he'd be available for our winnable games. With the way he was hurting and moving, I question if he'll be available these next 2 games and if he is, how effective will he be? Might cost us these next 2 games.

If we had depth, no way you let a guy play *that* hurt. I'd say a hurt Offensive lineman, to the extent that Cooper was limping, lowers his performance to almost the practice squad. Thing is, in Heupel's offense, the center is really the one that gets the blocking schemes communicated and is maybe more important that the QB. Backup Center is probably not even close in how to do all that, and that's why he (Cooper) has to play hurt.

Leader also needs to know when to step aside because you're hurting your team and will be needed for the other games that we could possibly win.
He's tough but he also needs to think about his future and NFL also

Ankle injuries for big guys will typically last most of the season...Takes a while to heal and he's playing a spot where these injuries are more prone...

I agree with incompetent but he is not the one that I am referring to , it is the ones that post and never has anything good to say when a player is playing injured and in pain

I’m not really sure why he should be celebrated for his performance today. What was he going to do? Sit on the bench and not go in? He wasn’t good today. Multiple bad snaps and a lot of blown assignments. I realize it’s partially because he wasn’t 100% and I appreciate that he tried to play though it but I really think most guys would try to play if the coaches allowed it. I think it was a mistake to leave him in the game. He was a liability all day

I appreciate him trying to tough it out but he hindered us a few times out there. Had a couple of horrible snaps, specifically had a bad snap on a 3rd down play in which a receiver was wide open on a route coming across the middle and would’ve gained at least 15-20 yards had it been a normal snap. Instead Hooker had to improvise and we had to punt. Those are the types of plays you need to execute to win against the good teams. I would rather have a healthy player that is inferior to the starter if the starter is noticeably hindering the offense.

I admire his moxie but at a certain point that looked very bad on the field. Him rolling around and limping. I'm surprised a ref didn't stop it.

No that's just an ego problem.

He clearly was hurt. Enough so that he was a liability to the team and especially the QB. Not to mention he could have made his injury worse.

At some point you have to swallow your pride and get off the field.

I guess gutsy but he was being blown up. Can't believe there was no backup

I like the young man. Like his family. Like his grit and determination to play. But he was getting dominated and became more dominated with the obvious pain on display.
