Why on earth would Mac Brown step down just to keep Muschamp at Texas? That makes no sense, but then again, neither does much of what Cowterd says...

A couple of theories...

1. Preserving his legacy at Texas. He will probably retire in another season or two anyways and a lot of fans would trade him retiring one year early to keep Muschamp.

2. Muschamp has stuck by his side when other head coaching jobs were offered. Mack Brown has continued to tell him he won't be around much longer. It's gotten to the point where he all but owes this to Muschamp.

I see what you are saying, but as the guys say on Around the Horn, I'm selling that theory. No way Mac retires just so Muschamp can take his job.

Muschamp is Jimbo Fisher 2.0. Overrated coordinator. Nothing more.

I thought that when Tennessee was talking to Muschamp, Brown told Muschamp he'd be done in 2 years.

Why are you excited about the prospect of Richt being out at UGA? I hope he's there for a long time

I still don't get all the love for Muschump. He's defenses are mediocre and i would love to see the circus he runs as a head coach.

Decent d coordinator not great imo. Think Trooper Taylor. Every now and then he does something right. But I always feel like they are saying look at me, look at me.

brown isn't that old and texas is doing just fine. i very much doubt they will take the risk to get rid of him and replace him with someone who has never been a head coach.

I love threads like these now-a-days. It allows the t-shirt sips to reveal their ignorance.

To the Big10 and beyond!!!

TX is not off to a great start. Brown could step down at TX for the same reasons Fulmer stepped down at UT. He may ber forced to step down. I don't see it happening, but if TX wants to secure Muschamp and TX has a bad seasonh; it could possibly happen.

Remind about the National Championship Fulmer coached in the year before he stepped down at Tennessee?

exactly. brown has them as a annual top 10 team, with annual top-5 recuriting classes, and the occasional NC shot. getting rid of him would be idiocy (even if you think he's overrated).

Dont you dare explain facts and records to these t-shirt tsips Droski! We all know Major Applewhite should be calling the shots in Austin proper. Major is probably on the phone right now with Leach and Franchonie to set up his coordinator positions.

Fulmer coached in the SEC Championship game the year before he stepped down. It's the same thing.
