Not surprising imo. Its all about the money, the M-O-N-E-Y. And these guys don't generate it. The big TV contracts, the media buzz, the massive crowds... Its the Power 5. There are serious financial consequences (and fall-out from that) if the Power 5 cancel their seasons. Loss of revenue. Lawsuits likely. But that has much less effect on the smaller schools. Compared to what? Being the good guy and canceling the season? Avoiding potential lawsuits that may result from having games played, with or without fans? Regardless if its based on good "science," the hysteria around the virus is what drives the decisions.

Actually, I think it is the other way around. Failure of Congress to pass liability protection put these institutions in jeopardy due to the possibility of many lawsuits if players got COVID. They would not be able to survive numerous lawsuits. The other conferences had better start thinking about this too.

No science/data in any of these negative decisions to shut down cities, businesses, schools or football seasons. Irrational fear and dirty politics is what it’s all about. Sickening.
