Just needs to speed up the process. Nothing he did was necessarily wrong. DL have the advantage in these situations. The OL are still 16 year olds learning the technicality of the position. There is a reason DL play early and OL don't. That's why David Sanders Jr and Jordan Seaton got the paycheck they didAfter watching this video, I would hope we aren't devoting much resources to young Joshua. That was an airball.
didnt get to post this. but dude showed out in AA game in San Antonio. Most excited about he, Faizon, Keys, and Lbers.Just needs to speed up the process. Nothing he did was necessarily wrong. He has a chance as a freshman to be the 3rd Edge after Coleman and Norman.didnt get to post this. but dude showed out in AA game in San Antonio. Most excited about he, Faizon, Keys, and Lbers.
The single most impressive Vols recruit performance from Saturday's game came from future DL Carter Gooden. The top ranked recruit out of Massachusetts made an electrifying third quarter play that played a key part in his team's victory.
Beating a Texas Tech OT signee off the edge, Gooden got to Team West's quarterback bringing him down for a sack, while also knocking the ball loose for a fumble recovered by the East team.
Gooden's strip sack helped ignite Team East to an eventual victory. The future Vols edge rusher's quick get off on the ball should excite Tennessee fans, as they just might have another defensive game wrecker on their hands.
Gass had better add some weight. He's at 217 lbs. Knowles likes bigger Edges and Carter is at 260, which is right in line with that. Now, if Carter adds 10 more lbs., he might be on the Strong Side.Over Gass? You sure he won't be on the other DE spot?
I think Gass is gonna beast.Gass had better add some weight. He's at 217 lbs. Knowles likes bigger Edges and Carter is at 260, which is right in line with that. Now, if Carter adds 10 more lbs., he might be on the Strong Side.
That being said, Knowles also plays 2 Edges at once, much more than Banks did. So Gooden's pass rush ability and size could make him a hybrid SDE/EDGE and perfect for those situations in which CJK wants a 2nd Edge on the field.
But I did say "a chance." Gass also has that chance....if he adds a good amount of weight. I'm excited to see what happens when this freshman class gets on the practice field to compete.
