So far, so good here--amazingly! It's 22 degrees now and been in the 20s all day, so I don't know why the rain that's falling isn't building up as ice on the power wires. It's turning to ice on the ground and the deck, but not even forming icicles on the metal birdfeeders.

Thank you, Lord! I'm happy to still have power and heat instead of an adventure and a story to tell!

Hope each of y'all has had an uneventful day! We'll see what tomorrow brings... tomorrow.

Too pretty in summer—all 6 weeks of it—to go elsewhere, and too old to
put up with the bother of moving.

And I like the view.

First off, to those in TN and surrounding states, please be safe. I've lived in the north my entire life (CT, MA, ME, MI & WI) and am used to driving in these conditions. We all hear stories about southerners trying to navigate icy roads when not used to it and I've experienced it - flew to Little Rock for a 4-H conference just as an ice storm was coming through the area and I wasn't too concerned about the roads themselves - but my fellow travelers? Yikes!

It was -34 where I live in WI Saturday morning; middle of 3 nights where we'll get to -20 or colder. Still, the dog needs walking and so long as its calm outside and the sun is out, it's not too bad if you're dressed properly.

I loved living in northern Maine from 1987 - 1992, right on the border with New Brunswick. 1reVOLer is absolutely right in his/her assessment as far as I'm concerned. Absolutely beautiful state. even if summers are a bit on the short side of things. Kind of like Tennessee, which I very much enjoy traveling to and through.

Speaking only for Maury County Tennessee...
Precip has moved on, my car, steps and sidewalks have been cleared, temps have started their slide toward a single-digit Tuesday morning, and hopefully at least a lane's worth of wet on the roads will evaporate overnight.

The fourth revision (due to storm rescheduling) of this week's list of "basketball games on TV that mom will want to watch" is ready to print.
