He showed me something today. He wants to be on the field as the #1 receiver.

I've been highly critical of the young man, but tonight he was one of the few bright spots on our team.

Lucas had a good game along with Chris Brown. I've been hard on Lucas mostly because he just hasn't shown us much up until tonight.

He's someone I always said would step up, much to the amusement of quite a few VNers.

He stepped up, but i'm still not sure he is anything more than a possession receiver.

Everyone has been hard on him I think. He's been inconsistent and he seems like he has turned the corner. He looked like he ran good routes, caught the ball well obviously, and looked good after the catch.

Oh, I forgot about Chris Brown. Great job by him too considering that he was not going to be the starting TE.

I was happy with Taylor, he played really well as did Arian Foster who looked like he was gonna jog all the way for a TD on a kickoff return.

On defense, Eric Berry was very good.

I agree with Eric Berry's performance. He did not look like a Freshman at all.

Did you really watch him though? I'm just curious because I know that I have a hard time keying in on one player. I'd be interested to know exactly how well he did tonight.

I know he was in on a lot of tackles, but that's never a good thing when your secondary is making a lot of tackles on the opposing teams backs. (Unless they're blitzing of course)..

Yea, I remember you and me defending him pretty hard earlier in the year when everybody said that the new WR's were going to come in and blow him out of the water.

He has stepped up so far, but there's still a lot of football to be played. Let's all hope he keeps improving, along with the rest of the receivers.

Well, they didn't always have him on Desean Jackson, but he did good the few times he was covering him. He didn't look lost like most Freshman DBs.

Do you mean that he was going to be an H-back instead of a traditional TE? Regardless, he manned up in a real way tonight. That 1st down where he ate a Cal defender in his stomach to get the down answered any unasked questions I might have had. He is a solid Vol.

He is someone who is gonna swarm to the football, and not be afraid to make hits. The only time I saw him against Jackson, he basically got somewhat schooled but Longshore threw it else where.

But he played very well tonight. I hate he had to lose his first game as a Vol.

I was keeping a pretty close eye on him. He played very well when it came to tackling. He got burned on one mid-range pass (10 yards), but the safeties backed him up well and I think he was in on the tackle. The boy knows how to hit, tackle, and cover. I was pleased with his performance (though not impressed...for no other reason than I expected too much)

His two touchdown catches weren't too shabby either.

I agree. Looks like Taylor will be a productive receiver for us. Not sure how deep of a threat but he should be able to catch 40-50 passes this year.

Austin Rogers looks like he may have some talent in the future. Pretty fast but not too shifty after the catch.

Josh Briscoe ... forget about it. Caught several balls, but he's a junior now and still looks like a deer in the headlights freshman after the catch. Fumbled again tonight when he hit the ground (remember GA stripping him?). Dropped an easy one too.

Hancock. Being healthy may reveal him to be adequate, but I can't see stardom here either.

Not sure that any have the muscle to do the kind of blocking in the past, although I saw a few nice ones tonight.

We were obviously skittish or just inept at getting down field against a pressing defense tonight. I say roll the dice with Vinson, Moore, Oneal, & Jones. I can see us struggling a lot this year under press coverage and the box loaded. Looks like the OC got em' all involved after the jitters were reduced. So, he's probably prepping it for the near future.

We might not have a deep threat but i will take 5-10 yards per catch with a 70% accuracy any day of the week.

yeah 5 - 10 yards did move the chains all day long and i think we did not do too bad with short passes... we did score 31 and we had a very good field position on just one start where foster did all the return... except for that we did move the chains... if only our D could stop somethin
