LSU's Miles 'raked over the coals' at presser.

As be should be. 100% of his success has to do with overwhelming talent and sheer luck and nothing to do with coaching ability.

I think there's little doubt that even just a decent staff would have produced another conference title on top of what they've already got.

Agreed. I would venture to say Bama is less equipped from the top of the roster to the bottom. LSU should be the power of the conference, if not the nation. Miles has their best QB playing reveiver. The difference between Saban and Miles no doubt is the reason why they are the hunter and not the hunted.

If there's a gap, it's not much of one.

Well, I am a Tiger fan and I am not happy about everything but with that said. The only team I think should have or had the talent to win another SEC Championship was the 2006 team. The 2005, 2008 and the 2009 teams did not have the talent or experience.
IMHO

The only reason LSU didn't win in 2006 was Jamarcus in the two tight games. He played very poorly. IMHO

This year's team is actually much stronger than I thought, but I wasn't expecting another run until 2011 or 2012. Chances of that happening with the present offensive coordinator is near zero though.

As funny as it sounds Georgia has gotten better or just as good of talent as LSU over the last 8 years per rivals ratings if you believe that kind of thing.

Here is my stats on recruiting using Rivals stats from 2002-2009. Average class rankings:

1.) USC 4.2 (NC 2004)
2.) Georgia 6.6
3.) LSU 6.7 (NC 2003/2007 and if it were not for bonehead Russell against AU good chance for another in 2006)
4.) UF 7.5 (NC 2006/2008)
5.) OK 7.7 (NC 2000)

Other notables:
Florida State 8.7
Texas 9.5 (NC 2005)
Tennessee 10.6
Auburn 12.6
Ohio State 12.6 (NC 2002)
