Don't know if this is old news or not, a lot of LSU fans are pissed at Miles because he has allowed too much contact resulting in the loss of two big players.

I have heard Fulmer is getting some slack because he hasn't allowed enough contact, not preparing them for the real thing

Damned if you do, damned if you don't, I don't think there is a perfect mix of contact and no contact in the fall, injuries happen.

Yeah, injuries do happen and I think that Fulmer should be worried about a lot of full contact in the preseason considering our bad luck with injuries here in the last 3 or so years.

It's probably one of the toughest calls for a coach in preseason practice. Personally, I'd rather take a chance on tackling problems than get somebody hurt.

I agree, Theres so many other ways to be physical and keep injuries down.
Im not saying that full speed contact isnt the best way to get it done. But when teams have the luck UT has had the last few summer/fall camps, alternatives start to make sense.

Atleast until the season starts, Then it becomes a Free for all. :clapping:

Don't worry, E.J. Kuale, the WSLinebacker in question, will be back in time for the Tennessee game, most likely. If not, Jason Spadoni, his replacement is supposedly doing an exemplary job as the 2nd man.

You know. Thats the first time I have seen anyone draw the comparison. If it turns out that way, I'll be sure to remind everyone it was you that said it. I havent really considered that posibility. I think Miles is pretty good, BUT I can now certainly see it happening. Good job.

Well I think the reason for it is that LSU fans expect an SEC Title no matter what.

Say LSU goes 8-3 (which can happen) or even 9-2 and dont win the West.

Talk of..."Well Saban would have won that" will occur.

Not everyone is thrilled with Miles in BR

Fair call, but you could just as easily make a comparison of Les Miles with Saban himself. Coming from a mid to good level program who sat in the shadow of a bigger name when it came to recruiting. Although, Miles managed to have a winning record against their instate rival, OU, which wasn't the case with Saban at Michigan State.

I won't be calling for Miles' head if we don't win the SEC, or even get to the championship game. New coach, I'll give him some slack. So long as we get 8 wins, I'll be pleased.

I'm not displeased with his conducting of practices, either. I think we've got enough depth to be able to suffer a few injuries. At least I hope so. I suppose we'll see.

There's just no telling until the chips are down.

Saban and Miles have almost no comparison outside of coaching at mid-level BCS conference school.

Saban had a competely different background, persona, and other things....

EJ will not be back for the UT game. He just had surgery this week and the UT game is 4 weeks away. The LSU/FL game may be his first back. QB and LB are the 2 big questions for the LSU team.

You might like to read this article, then.

"Both worked on the NFL level (Miles coached three years with the Cowboys, Saban coached five years with the Houston Oilers and Cleveland Browns). Both did solid jobs at Little Brother schools in big conferences (Miles at Oklahoma State, Saban at Michigan State). Both have Midwestern roots, but neither saw his complete unfamiliarity with Louisiana as an impediment to getting the job done."

Les Miles is not Nick Saban...hoping he is the same is looking through purple and yellow glasses.
