Back of the football card
Williams appeared in all
12 games for the Tigers in 2025, though only four games on offense. He played in Southeastern Conference tilts against Alabama, 32 snaps at right tackle, and Arkansas, 74 snaps at left tackle. Williams also logged snaps in nonconference games against Southeastern Louisiana (26 snaps at LT) and Western Kentucky (18 snaps at LT).
In 92 pass blocking snaps this season, Williams allowed just one hurry and no quarterback hits or sacks. In total, Williams logged 150 snaps on the season after just four snaps in one game as a redshirt in 2024.
Williams stands in at 6-foot-8 and weighs around 335 pounds.
How this helps Tennessee
Tennessee has a need at offensive tackle and Williams will have every opportunity to win that job. Right tackle, specifically, as
David Sanders will flip over to left tackle for the 2026 season.
Jesse Perry has plenty of experience at right tackle for the Vols, starting there the first five games of the 2025 season, but was previously appointed to be Tennessee’s starting right guard last summer and that’s where he finished the season this past fall.
The Vols went from wanting to add an offensive lineman to needing an offensive lineman come portal season following the departures of starter
Lance Heard and his backup
Bennett Warren. Current reserve
Jeremias Heard will be going into his third year with the program and could be another option at tackle. Recent signees
Gabriel Osenda and
Kamari Blair could also be in the conversation at tackle next season as well.
What now for Tennessee in the portal?
It’s been a busy first few days of portal season for the Vols with several visitors on campus.
With former Kansas State defensive back
Qua Moss and Williams now committed to Tennessee, the Vols look to close on a few more recent visitors who have been on campus. Penn State defensive tackle
Xavier Gilliam, North Carolina linebacker
Khmori House, Penn State edge
Chaz Coleman, Louisiana Lafayette running back
Zylan Perry were all on campus Monday for visits.
Tennessee is also scheduled to host more visitors this week, a list that includes Miami (OH) edge
Adam Trick, Kansas safety
Lyrik Rawls, Jacksonville State running back
Cam Cook, Slippery Rock cornerback
Kayne Thompson, Oregon State guard
Dylan Sikorski, Auburn cornerback
Kayin Lee and Wake Forest defensive tackle
Mateen Ibirogba.
