LSU in free fall

No competent AD with any degree of job security or pay is going to go anywhere near LSU, especially now that their governor waded right into the middle of the situation and took a giant steaming dump on the athletics department with his grandstanding. AD's like money and stability, and LSU's gonna be short on both for the foreseeable future. Oh, sure, they'll "have money" in the superficial sense, but with the Kelly buyout and the LSU power brokers sticking their nose in things, the strings attached to that money will be ... significant.

The funniest part is, LSU's governor didn't get into LSU and has no ties to the school. He went to Louisiana-Lafayette. So in a very amusing way, he's helping to oversee the dismantling of a hated in-state antagonist for his alma mater. You want to talk about conspiracies. That'd make for a good one in my book.

Why would Danny White want to deal with that headache?

I would be careful here. This might be a slight variant on Kiff bailing on us way back when.

D White has a history of and is on record as saying that he was someone who preferred to "straighten out" athletic departments and that he is mentally someone who dislikes just "maintaining".

LSU might present him with challenge that he can't resist. Tigers could also be targeting a White/Heupel pairing which would kill us.

Very disturbing news when I woke up this morning.

I didn’t know DW had said that

The problem with this is that they might come after Danny White, not a good thing. He has been the best Vol AD since Doug Dickey. Stay away.
No they aren’t. Landry is gonna either hire the UGA AD (an LSU alum and unlikely to accept), or he’s gonna hire McNeese State’s AD. Danny White has no Louisiana ties to my knowledge (which I admit to having very little knowledge of White’s upbringing so I could be wrong about it), but it has been made extremely clear that the positions will be filled with Louisiana people.

I think it's basically all but confirmed at this point that they are going to hire McNeese St's AD, who is a personal buddy of Landry, the Governor.

I didn’t know DW had said that

This was from an interview right after he was hired on why he took the job Before he even hired Heupel.

Notice the parallels between what he said back then compared to the current LSU situation.

This could be very bad

You’ve done an impressive job of twisting those words.

Call it what you will man, but my gut says this could be a problem.

Call it BVS or whatever you want. No offense intended, but I have survived life this far by trusting my gut over anything else No point in stopping now

The AD needed to be fired as a threat to active AD's around the country. This is how they become famous stealing coaches from major schools. They basically give them a 100 million dollar contract guaranteed due to the buy out clause. Who is going to say no to that? They are just hoping you fire them after that signing but the AD looks brilliant. It doesn't matter who thought it up, all who signed must go with the coach.

Tennessee had stable university leaders at the point White was hired. LSU is looking for a university president right now so anyone taking the AD position has no idea who will be their boss. Although it appears that the governor is calling the shots anyway so might not matter who the president is.

Why is the governor making decisions at a school he didn’t even attend? Stay in your lane bro
LSU is without a President at the moment, which gives the Governor more authority to get involved. Plus Louisiana is a very, let's call is unique place politically. Has been for a long time.
