Looking forward to my road trip to Knoxville. How confident are you guys this year? I think my Tigers will be 8-0 heading into November...assuming our QB controversy is settled by then...I'm predicting a 31-21 LSU victory.

Best of luck this season!

Controversy? I was unaware that we had one this year.

I have a feeling your Tigers will be 6-2 heading into Neyland (at AU and at Florida are not gimmees.) I also believe that this game will be very close and very intense. I am giving the Vols the edge, in a 17-14 slugfest.

That game is going to be incredibly tough. It's entirely possible the two teams are undefeated (MAYYYYYYBE) or both have 1 loss. It should be a very very good game, and I'm worried because LSU will want revenge from last season, which in itself, could cancel out the home field advantage.

Wait, I just double-checked. LSU will definitely have 1 loss, most likely 2, before that game. @ Auburn and @ Florida is really difficult to come out unscathed. And 31-21 is a little optimistic.

Dude, he specificially said "If OUR QB controversy is over" meaning LSU's because he is an LSU fan. :)

My bad. Interesting that he is predicting an 8-0 start in a case in which there apparently is a QB controversy...

Yeah, I found it odd that he did that, as well as predicting two HUGE road wins against teams that are as good as them already.

I can't even think about the LSU game. I'm just holding my breath that we make it out of the month of September.

i'd take any of their three quarterbacks probably
although i shoudn't say that because i think if ainge... makes the correct decisions, then he's got the arm to be up there in the untouchable range

So what are you guy's predicting for yourselves going into November? 2 losses as well?
We've got everything from 11-1 to 5-7 for season predictions. Going into Nov. we could have losses to Cal, UF, UGA, Bama & SC. If that's the case then we'll probably lose to LSU and Arky. On the other hand, we could beat Bama and SC, split on the UF & UGA games, and depending on what happens with Cal, go into Nov. 7-1 or 6-2. There are too many unknowns for UT and our competition. I think most of us expect a significant improvement in offensive production, and I use the term "significant" in a relative sense. I don't think the Vols will be losing games 6-3 or 16-15 this year, but I also don't think we will win games where our opponents post 30+ points.

Let me say this,I predict all Vol fans (most all) will be happy at the conclusion of this season one freaking way or another!

i agree i agree.. we know cal's good, but how good? we know we'll improve, but that doesn't mean we'll beat cal by 40 or anything...
SEC is wide open IMO

Cal is good. I hope we don't take for granted that they're from the Pac 10. They're good. (compared to how we played last year, they're great)

I'm also thinking about things like:

Who will be UGA's starting QB by the time they play UT? If it is Stafford, will he be a difference maker right out of the gate or will he need a few games to get adjusted?

Will Meyer be able to squeeze any more offensive production out of the Gators this year with Leak at the helm? Will UF have anyone who can run the ball?

Will SC's defensive line have holes in it big enough to drive trains through?

How will Bama's starting QB (I assume it'll be Wilson) perform under pressure? Will their LBs and DBs be able to shut down the passing game?

Lots of questions for everyone, including the Vols.

Some fans may, but I don't think the coaches nor players will.

Welcome to Volnation!

We have so many question marks that there is really no way of knowing.

Will we get the Ainge from 04, or the one from 05?

We will have four new starters on the O-line, not that last years line was anything to write home about. How well will they protect Ainge and open holes for Foster?

How will our recievers play this year? They couldn't catch a cold last year.

We are replacing six or our starting front seven on D. I expect that the D will be fine, as CJC troops usually are.

We have three games before November against teams with as much or more talent than we have; Florida, Georgia, and Cal. We also have two games against teams which may or may not have the talent that we have, but are certainly capable of beating us.

I think we will probably go 3-2 in that stretch and be 6-2 heading into November.
